Good news for the England boys!
Roberto Colaoti of Borussia Mönchengladbach is back on the Israeli team after recovering from a long injury. Colaoti scored 6 goals in the 8 matches he played in the qualifing round.
He's the striker Israel was missing against the Croats. Hopfully he'll help us beat (or possibly draw) the Russians.

Right on scheduale, 5 days before a big match Benayoun is injured and is in doubt for the game.

The doubt is gone, Benayoun will miss the match. He will also miss the Liverpool - Newcastle match.

I can see England beating Croatia.

Which means everything rests with Israel.
Abrah pays Russia's bonus indirectly. Someone told me that he is also Jewish. That correct?
If so, doesn't really look the best as he has invested interest in both.

Avram Grant is Jewish, I guess.

I can start the paranoid "Roman will bribe the Israel players" stuff, but shouldn't really make much difference anyway. Russia should beat Isreal, just as England should beat Croatia.

I hope Israel do us a favour and I hope England qualify.

But if it dosn't happen, we can't really complain - we haven't been good enough to qualify and certainly wouldn't be there on merit if we scraped through somehow.
If by some miracle we made it, would it be papering over the cracks? Prolonging the inevitable?

[rrrrRonaldinho"

Roma is certainly Jewish but he is a 101% Russian Jewish.

It's alright mate, just put on 10 defenders and barricade that bloody goal..

A draw will do us nicely.

Although, unlike rrrrRonaldinho, i cannot see England beating Croatia, should Russia win, lose or draw. I just can't see it happening - typical England. We don't have Ferdinand, Terry or Rooney whilst Ashley Cole has barely played lately and to make matters worse Robinson is fit.. all England need is an injury to Robo Crouch to finally put the final nail in the coffin.

On the plus (aye, PLUS) side, Sir David Robert Joseph Beckham is on 97 caps i believe. He'll play against Austria, McClaren has basically said that he'll use it to give him some minutes. We probably won't be winning against Croatia, so he'll get thrown on - alternatively, we will be winning, and he'll get thrown on - earning his 99th cap. Bang, we're out. Bang, McClaren's out. In comes someone who isn't a spineless [beep!] and drops Beckham for good (assuming the FA don't overpower him), leaving the massively overrated git one cap short (which makes it all the sweeter (we may even see him cry again!)). Using that logic I think Russia will lose. If they couldnt beat Israel in Russia why would they in Israel?
See what I mean?

5 years ago Maccabi Haifa beat ManU 3-0 on a wednesday and on the next sunday lost to Kiryat-Gat who was relegated at the end of that season. The greatest thing about football in my opinion is that it's unexpected and that 1 game says nothing about the next.

The game against United was played in Cyprus. It was the last (or second to last?) game of the group stage and United used the reserve team against the Israeli team. I know United's reserve team is better than Kiryat-Gat, but i still wanted to emphasize that Maccabi (which WAS a good team at the time, i'm not disputing that) did not beat United's first team.

The match was 2nd to last in the 1st group stage. I've been to that match and as you siad I had to go fly to Cyprus to see Haifa's "home" games that year. I cant belive I'm this debate again.
ManU had 5 or 6 player from their regular 11 on the pitch, that's hardly the reserve team. I agree it wasnt their strongest team but calling P. Neville, G. Neville , O'Shea, Solskjaer , Rio Ferdinand , Silvestre and Paul Scholes reserve that's just bull.

Liverpool played AC Milan in 2005 and 2007 - the first of the finals we won, the second we lost. Between that period we improved considerably and Milan if anything got worse (the loss of Shevchenko, Crespo etc).

Football isn't so clear cut, you should know that. Few matches are sure - especially not an away tie against Israel (apparently they've only lost twice at home in 17 games..). Now, Russia maybe "should" beat Israel but it's by no means sure.. they have a hell of a match on their hands.

No because Croatia have 26 pts and England 23, and there is the last match England - Croatia.
