This talk is hardly serious though. We lost our chances last year when we failed to beat Croatia and Israel at home. And, after all, in this company we are indeed number three.

We certainly don't deserve to qualify, thats for sure - but we have a chance, Israel have worked their magic particularly with the injury-time winner, so lets hope our boys don't f*ck it up against Croatia on Wednesday.

Whether we qualify or not, I still hope McLaren goes...the cracks are only being temporarily papered over with him being there.

Woah now that was tense,i thought i was watching a re run of the Champions League final of 2005,i've never been so tense in those final minutes when Russia hit the post,we don't deserve what Israel did for us,but now we've been given the chance we have to go out and destroy Croatia and get some pride back and finish top of the group,not that it matters but it would be nice

English football commentators are insufferable and have a tendency to be condescending towards foreign football, be it at national or club level. Twmcat's tongue-in-cheek point is that they'll have a field day if England manages to go through when everyone had written them off and that is not easy to swallow if you aren't an England supporter.
