For the goal refused for Italy and allowed for Scotland, i think that without a replay you can't see which is offside or not. It can be allowed as it could be refused. In a match there are many offsides which are not, and onsides who are not.

For the free kick at the end of the match, who has taken this decision ? the referee or the linesman ?

I think there was a misunderstanding between the referee and the linesman, i remenber De Rossi pushed a scottish player and after Chiellini did the same on Huton but harder, and the ball went out and i think Huton was the last player to touch it.

After i think that the linesman had his flag in the direction of the Scottish side like he showed a throw-in for Italy. I think that the referee understood that the linesman show a free kick for Italy, but the linesman was only busy with the throw-in and not the Italian fault. What do you think of that ?

I think the flag of the linesman was in direction of the scottish side but i'm not sure, do you remenber how was the flag of linesman ? Question

I'm not gonna complain about the referreeing because I actually thought that minus the decision at the end, he did okay.

What I will complain about though is the Italian attitude on the field, it's pathetic to be honest. They dive constantly every time anyone comes close to them and they feel that their possession is under threat, just to get a free-kick and relieve pressure. It's not just one of two players, it's near enough the whole team that does it and it's so frustrating to watch so I can't really imagine what it is like to play against them.

Also every corner or set piece where the ball is going to come into the box, the Italian's ALWAYS have their arms around the opposition and it's so blatant aswell. Now I know that this happens a lot at various teams but the worst cases I've seen have been from Italian teams e.g. Roma, Pannuci should wait until the end of games to get players shirts. I mean, it's common knowledge that some Italian people have had some 'special' feelings for members of the same sex throughout history but all this hugging, touching and groping is ridiculous.

You can see further examples of their petulent, annoying attitudes when they start to use time-wasting tactics by refusing to pick up the ball at throw-in's when it is right beside them and instead wait for the ball boy to throw them a new one. Or when the opposition want to take a free-kick and they stand in front of the ball and stall every single time even though the referee is standing there and hasn't blown his whistle, they have to be told to move time and time again. And if that wasn't enough, they feign injury and then take ages to get off the pitch and when the referee finally ushers them off they miraculously recover and are ready to come back on. And if that wasn't enough, they walk over to be substituted like they have arthritis in all their joints and that's only if they haven't pretended that they don't see their number and look around obliviously for a few moments....

Italian attitude in football pretty much makes my bloody boil, it's so petty and feminine. I hope they just shut down Serie A someday after another few people are killed and more match fixing is exposed, it's for the best.

They have used these times-wasting tactics against France in the final of the WC when we were dominated and may be we could scored a goal.

cheated? di natale's gol regular, scotland scored in offside

3-0 could have been more appropriate

Convenient. The free-kick for Italy's second was an unbelievable decision. One of the worst i've ever seen. Such idiocy should be treated with the death penalty.

So there was that goal, the Italian's disallowed goal that should have stood, and the Scots could have had a penalty, making the score 2-2. Scotlands goal was touch-and-go.

show respect and learn some fairplay, bad losers

*sigh* Dumb Italian f*ck. Like you'd have been happy if you'd have gone out. Yeh right. It's so easy to say all that on the back of winning.

another racist insult, it happens often i see
someone can ban this motherfukker?

yeah i'm happy, because at least my teams win important matches, england had to support israel to continue, and Liverpool is almost out of the Champions League

I must admit that he's right ben, You do go a bit far sometimes. Chill out man...
But no need for the mofo comment from our friend alucarD, although I did like his "Liverpool almost out" crack. Laughing

thats b*llocks Ben.

Italy deserved the win, were and are the better side and were victim to poor refereeing decisions just as much as the Jocks. Italy never left second gear and yet were still too much for them to handle.

instead of keeping a dignified silence and concentrating on what was a good qualifying attempt by scotland ans giving out the necessary pats on backs they lower themselves to whingeing about a free kick that was poorly given.

its sad.

Are you saying that you never once complained when Sol Campbell had a perfectly legitimate goal disallowed at Euro 2004 against Portugal and never blamed the officials for the bad decision which cost us?

compliments for your mental limits, did you know that the great britain empire had fallen? did you know that every nation has his playing method? dont you like it? who cares!
how many times has passed since mighty england doesnt win a world cup with magnificent, eroic and very british methods, with the aid of the LEGENDARY british fairplay, with superheroes instead of players who flyes over the field instead of run?
I cant wait until european cup, probably we will encounter mighty england ( if they qualificate) and we will give european kicks.. Its gonna be amusing to read comments like these in that occasion, poor losers

I really do feel sorry for the Scots. They put up a great fight. Italy played well, too, and deserve to be in the final phase of the tournament.

Maybe the match would've been different if the 'good but disallowed' goal had been given, and if the Scots' 'obviously offside' goal hadn't been given.

But what's the point in complaining? We can't do anything about it.

You can't always blame referees and linesmen - it's not easy to see everything, and sometimes (but not always) their angle of view is different - how many times have you stood up and shouted "FOUL", and then gone to see it wasn't in the instant replay on TV? It's the fact that instant replays aren't accepted that screws things up anyway. Maybe we should stop watching these replays altogether, it just gives us all indigestion.

At this point, although I'm happy for Italy, I feel gutted that the French automatically pass - they were beaten twice by Scotland (who were better than them), and have such a c0ck of a coach that... enough said.

Conclusion - it's time for instant replays during the match...

BTW, the Scottish goal wasn't "touch and go" - we call it OFFSIDE. Nonetheless it was hard to spot fo the linesman.

I've watched replays on replays, and i repeat.

The disallowed goal was regular, it would have been 2-0 after 30-minutes

The Scottish goal was in offside

The handball wasn'ět a penalty, it wasn't even a handball. Zambrotta had his arm totally united with his body. Rules say there is no foul if body and arm are united.

I admit the free kick was totally invented, but why do you say [beep!] italians, [beep!] fifa, [beep!] uefa, [beep!] the system ? I don't understand really. We would have qualified even with the 1-1, so we didn't have any fault. Instead if your striker would have scored at '80 in that clear goal occasion, probably now you'd be partying and i'd be whining like hell about the huge referee mistakes. But surely you would say that we Italians like to whine and we don't take well a defeat, like it happened in 2002 ( and like it was showed we, along portugal and spain have been totally "harassed" by referees to make s.korea qualify )

So i keep to not understand, why to put a free kick that for us didn't mean much ( apart destroy the huge tension we had inside ) above a disallowed goal and a offside goal concede ? Don't you understand it makes no sense ? This is being biased, this is finding excuses.

I wished Scotland would qualify too, but after this whining and insulting Italians i'm glad they are out.
Useless to have fair play on your grounds if then you act pathetic to the world.

Just lock this thread now. People coming in and complaining that Scotland lost because of the ref are just embarrassing themselves. It's pointless and it's ugly and we already have people throwing around racial epithets.

There was a foul on the goalie, it would have not been given in England but this was European football and in Europe it was a foul.

Bah...

Fantastic game yesterday, with 22 fair players and wonderfoul atmosphere, Italy deserved to win

I am very unhappy for the Pannucci's goal... cause I think that France will not win in Ukraine..

How about Pirlo's cross for the goal though? It was absolutely class, and curled to perfection so the keeper would tempted, but then swung away from the goal towards Panucci, allowing him to get more power in his header.

fair play to scotland. great effort from our lads. i dont think italy deserved the win....but neither did scotland. a draw was a fair result in my opinion which makes that free kick decision so frustrating because with a draw we still could have went through. france would have had to get something in ukraine. im not going to say the ref lost us the game because a few decisions went scotlands way also...so fair play to italy and unlucky to the scots.

steely i must say,, everything you have said in this thread is complete dross. how you can say scotland dont have an ouce in defence is beyoned me... arent scotland the team who have kept 2 clean sheets against the world cup runners up (france) in this campaign?? including one in france?? i rest my case. you just seem very anti-scotland and its sad mate

what a load of [beep!].

Italy diving?...that tells me what you know about football...[beep!] nothing!!
[beep!] like that happens when a techincal team (italy) with more possession skill comes against a more physical less technical side in this case (scotland), so for italy to win more free kicks is normal.

yes the free kick at the end was wrong, but so was scotlands off side goal as mentioned....

and apart from all that we played them at hamden park and beat them...that's football...end of story.

be proud you played 4 times world champions....you don't win 4 world titles on luck...and how many finals in the world cup have we played in....come on a little respect if you LOVE the game ...jesus.

I told you Italy would win...read back to my fridays post the day before the game....if italy keep up this form ..and witht he players we have up and coming...we can win the european and the next world cup...remember this post ladies..the next time you girls cry..

forza azzurri.....a bocchina di mammata.
