can i point out the irony of this situation, the fa didn't want hiddink so they went with mcClaren.
and now hiddink's russia is going to austria and swizerland and england is staying home. it's time to tell it how it is, at this moment england doesn't have good enough coaches last year's top teams in the premiership were all foreign coaches. |

lets not be to harsh on McLaren, i agree he isnt good enough for england, but its the FA that gave him the job in the first place. how do you get a job in the FA they all idiots or what.
lets be honest im not sad england didnt make it, makes the scottish defeat not that bad after all |

We completely got what we fully deserved.
Had we scraped through it would have only succeeded in conveniently covering up what a distasterous campaign this has been from start to finish. Congratulations Croatia, you look a formidable side and your confidence can only grow. The England hierarchy in the FA, Steve McClaren and all the players can only hang their heads in shame - no excuses, they are paid more than a Kings ransom to perform and wear the shirt with pride. Carson dropped a clanger okay, but he shouldn't be singled out. The English press will be looking for a scapegoat and unfortunately it will be him until the next one comes along. His save in the second hald was world class. Gerard? I just don't know, I really don't. We all know he is more than capable of passing the ball over the first player in front of him, as are most Sunday league pub team players. But not last night. The second half was an improvement and Beckham again showed his worth - remember Macca unceremoniously dropping him from his first squad...then having to grovel back....the whole campaign has been an absolute farce from start to finish, and the only silver lining will surely be the inevitable departure of the Manager. I'd like to thank, and also apologise to Israel - despite you putting the outcome into our own hands, we were not able to show an ounce of the fight or spirit you showed v Russia. Here's to a good EURO '08 next summer - I hate to say it, but it can only be for the better without our shamble of [beep!] on display. |

So hard to take. A New Manager is needed and we can't afford to just look at English manager.Jose or Big Phill both have the quallities to do the job. I thought Carson was abismall last night but i wouldn't put the blame on any1, the team itself isnt good enough

[quote="Johaldo8"] ... and realise that our players aren't as good as what we think they are. Sven did a great job with the mediocrity he was working with. /quote]
"Mediocrity" may be too tough but, indeed, half of those whom we saw yesterday are not the guys for a top team. Those who are were on the bench. |

i think Ian Wright summed it up well ....he said he was so dissapointed with England`s performance . He said we were given a second chance and you dont often get that in international football . Yet we failed to take it and did not play like it was the most important match since the World Cup ...
Ian Wright looked so gutted last night ...he always used to give his all when playing for England ..a shame some of the players on the pitch last night did not show the same fight and passion that he used to . |
