AFRICAN NATIONS CUP BAD TIMEING ? |
|
Though many people my not know it , the African Nations cup is the second oldest football continental turnament after the cope America
but for a while now at this time of every year the european clubs (not all ) mostly from the EPL start a very aggresive campain agaist the timeing of the nations cup in regards to releasing the african national players in thier squard for nationnal duties , siteing and rightly so the peack period of thier varuious leagues and the Champions League. but this has now taken another dimention , from clubs now blackmailing players into turning thier backs on thier national teams to copmelling them to make press statements agaist the timeing of the continental compitition from the BBC up to the head of the EPL alot of bad statements sometimes bourdering on outright arrogance have been made about the African nations cup timeing , but from all this statements and nagetive publicity nobody has once come up with a altanative timeing ,this is not an over site it is a delibrate ommission becouse everybody seems to know that on the continent of Africa JAN FEB is the only time that one can have a compition of this magnitude , off season in EUROPE is june july though AUG at this time on the continent of AFRICA where it is not as hot as between 50 and 70 degrees its raining elephants and hippos and jan feb is the only time that one has good weather contitons for football For a country that says that inother for you to play in thier league you most be a national player and an active one are they realy in the position to complain about players going off for national duties ? |

What do you think about these comments from your National Team Manager...
Would you believe that African players could thrive without performing in the top European leagues, or would you agree with Vogts who would probably have African football's best interest at heart? |

I personally think having the tournament during the season could be damaging to Afircan football. I think teams maybe cautious about signing alot of African players as they'll lose them during the long campaign and when they return they'll be tired and possibly injured. Maybe thats why we havn't see large amounts of African imports at Man U & Liverpool through the years. Moving it to the summer would benefit all parties involved. Managers keep their players and African nations could see more players involved in the top leagues.

Agreed, but from what the Nigerian said, it sounds as though the weather conditions would not be feasible to play in during the summer?

CFCBOY , there is an ahsanti saying which says only a foolish man will sleep under a tree in which its seed killed his father the first question you should ask is why is it that it is we the Africans that have to give ? is UEFA planing to give anything ? I guess the answer to that is NO unless you are saying that signing an african player is part of giveing . We know the European way very well driven by self intrest tainted by a bit of greed , if we give now what makes you think they will not ask for more in futuer is that not the European way ? as far as this situation is concerned why has UEFA not come up with any proposal to meet CAF half way ? this are the questions you should be asking , WE use to see you as backword ppl and we did not belieave that you could play football infact you use to play with no shoes ( the english press kept enfasizeing on that when they invited the SUPER EAGLES for a friendly after usa94) so you started your own compitition Ho! but now we see that you can play you can now get rid of that your turnament and come and play with us becouse now we can see that you can play , what urter nonsence. Becouse CFCBOY, that is what you are saying when you keep comeing up with a proposall that the only person accomodateing the other is CAF , UEFA has never come up with anyproposal that is going to meet CAF half way all the proposal on the table is saying that CAF has to give and I for one complitely disagree with that the NC has been around from time imemmorial so the if the Europeans are not going to come up with a proposal that will meet caf half way then they should just shut up and get on with it CFCBOY , dont delude yourself European clubs are never going to stop signing African players this is not a humanitarian gesture they are sign African players becouse they are good periond . |

As CFCBhoy said, the timeing harms to african players since the big clubs aren't willing to sign a footballer that is gonna leave them for one month in the middle of the season. For example, Barça is always complaining to the cameroonian federation about Eto'o, and putting pressure on him to stay at barcelona.

You are doing exsactly what CAFhas allwasy been complaining about , is this a general European desease ? all your answers are not consructive but borders more on arogance Is the EPL singing African players out of an humanitarian gesture ? the last FIFA U17 compitition won by Nigeria out of the 18 players 11of then have allready been signed my top European clubs 5 of them in the EPL most of the scouts in the next african nations cup will be from top European clubs ,so this arguement dose not hold water the aim of this article is to come up with a solution and not blackmail ,change the time of your compition or we will stop singing African players is a form of blackmail espesialy when we all know that ~ that is never going to happen . Bercarlona are complaining about Eto but he still turns out for Cameroon at every nations cup and the same Bercelona have time and time again even with a naging injury have refused to sell him ontop of the fact that he called a press confrence and stated clearly that he is very comited to cameroon and the African natins cup so you guys should wake up and start dicususing a solution to the problem and not the same old colonial metality of our way or no way |

Ok, here the problem is for european clubs that miss their african players during the competition and pay them while they are playing the african cup of nations.
So the solution is to change the timeing of one of them: african cup or european leagues! And it's obious which one must be changed!! Is it so absurd to replace this competition in the summer? |

Yes it is and that is whatI have been trying to explain all along . First of all out of the 52countries of Africa thier are only about five countries that have the kind of weather that you can discribe as summer and winter in the rest of the countries what you have is rainy season and dry season in the north of the continent what you call summer in Europe is when you have temtrature as high as between 50and 70 degress can drop to about 40degrees as night , in the east and west of the continent the countries there are practicaly under water so you are left with just a handfull of southern countries namely South africa Namibia Swaziland (that has never qualified for the ANC and has a population if about 3million ) and Angola if you are lucky so what the CAF has been trying to say allalong is that you just cant change the timeing of this kind of turnament . The European clubs mostly the small ones have realised this long ago so they just get on with it , the big clubs on the other hand (mostly the G14) dont want to accept this fact so they resot to blackmail and use the powerfull press to surpress the other POV For instance do you know that CAF with the help of FIFA tried to hamonise the three wk winter brake in Europe so that the clubs will just be without the servises of thier top African players for may be just 2wks and that will be just for the players who reach the Final but the biggest and loudest opposition to this came from the EPL that dose not go on a winter brake atall and where there is allready an arguement that they play too much football . That is why CAF´s argument has allwasy been that this has nothing to do with the timeing of the nations cup but has to do more with wanting to sarbotage thier most prestigeus continental show case I for one dont agree with that but with the way most of the big clubs behaviour and attitude along with there utrances towords the ANC and the realease of players it gives some cridence to CAF´s arguement . |
