From what I saw on SSNews, it looked like Emma should have saved the first - hard to tell from the angle though.

Charlton are down after their defeat away to Cardiff who themselves are in deep troubles trailing 8 pts behind Birmingham with 4 games to go only.

It was only a matter of time before Charlton went. The men's team have a lot to answer for.

Long break for the Belles then
Maths isn't me strong point , but am I right in thinking if Arsenal win three more games they have retained the title ? |

I think they need 10 points

Cardiff are all but down now, after losing today.
Birmingham just need one point in 5 games, even if Cardiff win their last 3 (assuming there is nothing stupid in goal differences). Looks like Fulham are going to come up again, and either Nottingham Forest or Lincoln. I know they'll put Charlton in the Southern division, but what will happen about Cardiff? They are not from the north, but northernmost team in southern section is currently Colchester, I think I don't know which leagues feed these two divisions though - anyone able to help? |

It is the four Combination leagues- so far Curzon Ashton have won the North, Ipswich the South-East, but the Midlands is a battle between Leicester/Coventry and West Brom and the South West between Reading and Plymouth . These rivals still have to play each other so the decision will not be till 27 April. Two from Ipswich/ Reading/Plymouth in the South and two from Curzon/Leicester/Cov/WBA in the North. Cardiff have usually played in the South but with Charlton coming down as well I guess it will require some juggling. Seems a straight choice between Cardiff or Ipswich to go North unless another team folds in the close season....which is quite likely. The other solution would be to have 13 in the South and 11 in the North!

|
So one team from each of those Combination leagues gets promoted to the Northern and Southern sections then
I suppose there will be the same problem with the teams from the Northern and Southern sections being relegated - who plays where |

It actually works out OK I reckon....Crewe into the Midlands, Stockport into the Northern, if Team Bath go down they will be in the South West
or it will be Brighton in the South East and poor old Reading Royals will be shunted into which ever one needs filling up. They have decided to do a regrouping at the end of the 2009 season in the Combination leagues- because the distances are mad for some teams with for example Luton in the South West . Also teams tend to fold up very regularly at this level so leagues often start with reduced numbers. |

I suppose it does work ok in the end.
In the men's game, they used to have a Third Division North and South, which helped teams and fans, then they changed it and you got fixtures like Hartlepool v Exeter - and that was when transport was not so easy. If you have regional sections, it does help, but there's always a team at the outskirts of a group, whatever. |

And we'll win the title at the Emirates on Thursday (maybe)

Will they be lifting the cup that day as well? Or will that wait for the last game?
