Arminia Bielefeld have parted company with coach Ernst Middendorp after sliding from second to 15th in the Bundesliga.
Middendorp was let go on Monday just three days after Bielefeld lost 6-1 at Borussia Dortmund.
Sports director Reinhard Saftig said: "This is because of just one win from the last 11 matches.
"There were games when we thought it could not get any worse but it still did.
"We had to react and we needed to end this. We face Stuttgart on Saturday with Detlev Danneier as caretaker for one game.
"After that, we will look for a new coach. At the latest, we will reveal the new coach on January 4 when our training camp starts after the winter break."
This is the third time Middendorp has been sacked by Bielefeld.
"I might be coach a fourth time. I would not rule that out," he said. |
