Will it be another tight game as it was at Old Trafford earlier this year, or will there be another thrashing like there was when these two teams met last campaign?

I can see this being really poor. United look set to play a team mainly of youngsters and Roma will probably do the same. The outcome of this group can't be affected with by this result

lee ~ you beat me ~ was about to open this thread this evening ~ lol

well ~ i don't really fancy they travelling all the way to italy ~ since lately the serie-a's been in a mess ~ where the supporters always kicked up a fuss all the time ~ it could be dangerous T.T

however ~ back to Man Utd line-up XD
as cfcbhoy mentioned ~ this's just a formality match between them ~ so yeah ~ should be a number of youngsters playing then
pique and fletcher would possibly be two of them in the team ~ and also kuszczak as the keeper =P

Haha sorry Flips.

Yeah i also think it will be an evenly matched tie. Although with Rooney has captain I'm expecting a few goals from him.

I'd expect Roma to win. I'd probably tip them to do so on their home ground anyway, even if United had their full team out, so i'll stick by that. Are Roma playing to rest their proper team though, do you know?

I've just read the list of Roma and we won't doing the same as Manchester by playing youngsters, so i hope in a trashing Razz

You said it!

And make sure you don't let Rooney score, and keep his confidence nice and low. Wink

The 2 teams are already qualified, i'll go for 3-2 for Roma.

I'll say 8-1. Wink

Nah, 4-1 if Roma play their proper team, with Rooney annoyingly getting on the scoresheet.

I expected Roma to field their regular players. They're out for revenge.

But even if they do get it it'll be against our bench warmers, so i'm OK with it.

I'll be positive though and predict a draw.

The team should be.....

----------------Kuszczak

Simpson---Brown---Pique---O'Shea

Eagles---Fletcher---Carrick---Nani

----------Rooney(C)
------------------------Saha

Hopefully scrape a draw but I fancy a Roma win.

I'm debating if it will be worth watching , 90 minutes of Saha sitting on his ass isn't my ideal evening. May put it on half way through. Got a feeling that If it's that defence that Foreve has shown it's gonna be a goal fest for Roma if they play a full strength side.

If it's a side like Forev has listed I think it'll be a decent game. The midfield & Saha will be eager to put in a good performance to maybe give Fergie some selection problems and Rooney standing in as captain will want to show he's got the ability & desire to be a leader.

As for the back line, Kuszczak, Brown & O'Shea have all previously showed that they are capable of squad players. Pique will want another good performance. Only see Simpson once and he was poor

The line-ups from Uefa.com

AS Roma
Doni

Cicinho Ferrari Mexes Antunes

Barusso Pizarro

Esposito Taddei Mancini

Totti

Manchester United
Kuszczak

Simpson Piqué Evans O'Shea

Eagles Fletcher Carrick Nani

Saha Rooney

So also Roma will play some benchers like Antunes, Barusso (youngesters that never played before -Antunes- or played very rarely like 30 minutes -Barusso-), Cicinho, Ferrari, Esposito

P.S. Note that I'm not saying this as a justification in the case we won't win

Three Manchester United fans have been stabbed in Rome ahead of the club's Champions League tie in the city, according to reports.

The extent of the injuries sustained is not known.

The last time the two teams met in April, 11 fans were taken to hospital after violence in the stadium.

Fans are widely separatted in the stadium tonight.

Exceedingly happy with that I have to say, got something out of the game and were able to rest 10 of our usual starting 11.... Brilliant.
