Laughing Niners were supposed to pick 7th, but they traded that to the New England Patriots of all teams, and now SF is stuck with pick 29 which they acquired from the Indianapolis Colts. 49ers are looking at getting Quentin Groves from Auburn. I've not seen much of him, but he looks like a solid defensive end who will probably get a starting spot with the Niners anyway.

Good. Nice to hear someone solid that won't concede points!

Oh. I forgot. 49's! Very Happy

Laughing When your best defensive end is coming straight out of college, I wouldn't be too happy. Laughing

Not in a while. Draft is soon, then training camp. I'll try to provide a good coverage of it.

So far the New England Patriots would be a favourite to win it all next season as they have signed Randy Moss into a long-term deal and they have a high draft pick.

Seattle Seahawks may be releasing Shaun Alexander soon as they have signed 2 other star running-backs. How the mighty have fallen. Only 2 years ago, Alexander was the MVP.

So will someone explain how the draft works?

What type of players are in the draft? Is it the younger players, im guessing so.
How do they figure out who gets first and last picks?
Also are there any players you guys would love the teams you support to get?

Remind me who yous support?

I know floody is the Titans
Jono, Packers?

I dont know anyone else though.

The draft is for non-professional players (usually in or straight out of college) selected by the NFL teams.

I goes on over a span of 2 days (a weekend). Teams are ordered based on their performance over the previous season (worst team picks first, champions pick last), but they can trade their draft pick away if they want.

It's pretty much just 2 days filled with just picking college guys and trades.

Talking about the Draft anyone know what time it starts over here because i think its on SkySports.

Question to people who follow the College game and that level. Who do you think will be the first pick apart from Jake Long as the Dolphins have already got him.

It's 3PM EDT here, so it's 8 or 9PM there.

The Rams will probably pick Glenn Dorsey from LSU. He plays defensive tackle and I think he's the best player available in any position in the draft. The Rams need a superstar defensive player, and he might fit the bill.

Others to watch out for are Darren McFadden from Arkansas (possibly going to the New York Jets), and Matt Ryan from Boston College who will probably replace Michael Vick over in Atlanta. Interesting to see how the Patriots will use their pick. They could get a solid veteran or a bright young rookie. Either way they win.

I'm interested to see where Ben Dato will go. He's the punter/kicker for my school and he's a beast. He'll probably go in the 4th or 5th round hopefully to Denver.

Get ready for the longest and most boring weekend ever. Laughing

I'll be stuck in the library writing a paper so I'll try to post the picks whenever I can.

when i was over there on holiday i watched some college football. i remember this QB called Tim Tebow. He broke the record for a running QB for yards and TD's. Is he in the draft this year??

Nope, he's really young still and I think will only be a junior in college next school year. He's an amazing athlete and is bound to be a superstar. He may declare for next year's draft depending on if he wins the Heisman or a national championship for Florida.

Watched some of the draft yesterday and i know its hard to tell just from listening to the people rating these young players and watching a few highlights but players that looked good and i can see making an impact maybe not this upcoming season but from the start if the next season are players like, Jerod Mayo, Keith Rivers, Jake Long, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Felix Jones. Fair enough I have never watched any of these players play so my opinion is a bit of a guess but those are the ones that stood out to me that i got to see.

The question i shall put to our friends from across the pond is which players do you think will make an impact over the next few years that were in the draft and which players have a chance of becoming superstars (If any)?

Difficult to tell as of now, but all signs point to Darren McFadden. Definitely a huge player in college and could very well follow the mold of Reggie Bush from 2006 and Adrian Peterson in 2007.

Sorry I've not posted the picks. I'm [beep!] at Denver for not picking a running back in the first round. Hopefully they try and make a move for Shaun Alexander.

In other news, Pacman Jones is officially a Cowboy.

Can't say I'm too sorry to see him go, although what happened was a shame as he is a decent corner back when he is on the field.
