Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey will go under the knife after sustaining a serious knee injury, keeping him out for at least a month...
Fiorentina could be without Sebastien Frey (pictured) for over a month after the goalkeeper suffered a knee injury when he landed awkwardly in training. The French international will go for surgery tomorrow as the Viola look to get him back to full fitness as soon as possible, but even then it could take over a month before he makes his comeback. The Firenze outfit will take on Sampdoria away and then Cagliari at home before the winter pause, with reserve goalie Cristiano Lupatelli set to step in. The former Roma understudy spent some of last year on loan at Palermo, but not since he spent two years at Chievo in the early part of the decade has he played truly regular football. Nonetheless, the ex-Italian U-21 international is said to be relishing the chance to test his mettle in the top division once more. Frey could potentially return to the lineup in time for the trip to another of Lupatelli's former clubs - Parma - on January 13th, but that's largely contingent on his his surgery goes. |

Two Month Stop For Meghni
Lazio coach Delio Rossi will have to reckon without promising young midfielder Mourad Meghni for at least the next eight weeks. The 23-year-old Frenchman injured his thigh during the Coppa Italia match against Napoli in midweek and scans have now confirmed that he faces a lengthy layoff. Although Meghni is yet to really settle at the Olimpico since arriving in the summer from Bologna, Rossi will be disappointed by the news as the youngster has every potential to become a match winner. The former Sochaux standout was once rated as one of the most promising players in European football, with the French-Algerian being labelled as the ‘little Zinedine Zidane’. Thus far, he has only been able to show a flash of that kind of brilliance during the 2-1 Champions League win against Werder Bremen in early November. Lazio could really do with even an ounce of Zidane-like magic, as their hopelessly inconsistent form so far means that they will be going into the second-half of the season still perilously close to the relegation zone. |

Jorge Andrade’s season at Juventus is definitely over after he was forced to have another operation on his troublesome knee.
Andrade only signed for the Bianconeri last summer from Deportivo La Coruna, however in only the fourth game of this season against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, he suffered a broken kneecap. The 30-year-old’s first operation proved to be unsuccessful, meaning that he was forced to go into surgery once again. Andrade will certainly miss Juventus’ remaining 11 games of the season, while he is 99 per cent sure to miss this summer’s European Championships. This is a bitter blow to Andrade, who also had to skip the 2006 World Cup with Portugal due to injury. The injury-prone defender now faces a race against time in order to be fit for the start of the 2008/09 season. The ex-Porto man was intended to form a first-team centre back partnership with Domenico Criscito this campaign. However this plan went to pot due to first Andrade’s injury, and then Criscito’s poor form, which saw the youngster shipped out on loan to Genoa in January. |

Milan’s problems go from bad to worse as Kaka is ruled out for 10 days with an injury to his right leg.
The Brazilian superstar was forced off after only nine minutes of Milan’s 2-1 defeat to Sampdoria last night. It has been revealed that the 25-year-old has a right leg flexor injury, and will be out of action for around 10 days. Further tests will be undergone today and tomorrow, but Kaka will certainly miss the game with Torino this Saturday, while he faces a race against time to be fit for the following week’s match with Atalanta. Kaka has had a miserable season on the injury front and has been playing with a niggling sensation in his knee for a few months now. This has been a key factor in his under-par performances recently, as the Brazilian has struggled to match his brilliant level of performances from last year when he led Milan to Champions League glory. |

Torino have been hit by a huge blow going into the final quarter of the season after it was revealed that defender Gianluca Comotto will be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
Comotto has been one of the Granata’s most influential players this season, and he was arguably the man-of-the-match during their recent derby draw with Juventus. The defender has played 24 times in Serie A, however yesterday he was forced off after just nine minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico. It has since been revealed that the 29-year-old will be ruled out for the rest of the season, but further medical tests will be made to assess just how much damage has been done. Comotto was still harbouring hopes of a very outside chance of going to Euro 2008, but these slim chances have now certainly been dashed. The stopper’s previous clubs include Roma, Fiorentina, Reggina, Vicenza and Ascoli. |

Totti suffered an injury yesterday against Cagliari and will miss at least the match of CL against Man U, probably he's ruled out for several weeks though
