Lehmann set for Dortmund move?

Representatives of Borussia Dortmund have flown to London in a bid to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, according to reports in Germany.

With Borussia goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller facing three months out with a shoulder injury, his predecessor has emerged as their No 1 target this winter.

"I cannot rule anything out," said Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc. "It is logical that the name Lehmann is linked to us."

Furthermore, Friday's Bild newspaper shows pictures of Lehmann in Dortmund before Christmas, where he bought a new car from a local showroom.

Lehmann left the Westphalian club for 3.5million euros to join the Gunners in 2003 having won the Bundesliga with Dortmund in 2002.

The 38-year-old lost his place in the first-team place at the Emirates Stadium to Manuel Almunia earlier this season and is keen to play top-flight football to cement his place in the Germany squad for Euro 2008.

Back to his own country huh?
He is so old he has to retire.That is what I believe in.

Lehmann is maybe good but there is still not ay alternative of him in Arsenal.He is an old player and it is so normal that he wants to get back to his country namely to Germany.

Yeah nearly all the big clubs have experienced keepers, Lehmanns not got much time left though, probably just one season

As supporter of Borussia Dortmund I'm pleased that Jens Lehmann doesn't changed to our club. Every match in which Marc Ziegler played was won, and he collect only a few goals against. Furthermore he parried yesterday a penalty kick by Diego(Werder Bremen) and saved us in this way the entry to the quarter-final.

In Germany we sing:
"Wer braucht schon Lehmann, Lehmann den Zigeuner, wir tun das nicht und stellen den Marc ins Tor!"

It means:
"Who needs yet Lehmann, Lehmann the gipsy, we don't do that and post Marc in the goal"

The majority of the dortmund fans don't like Lehmann, I don't know why.

I quite agree with you. Lehmann is a wonderful goalkeeper and his fast match opening is still great.
But I meant another thing with "Ziegler's Chance". After the transfer from Lehmann to Arsenal we bought another goalkeeper named Guillaume Warmuz. He completed his career in the meantime.
There was an big competition between Roman Weidenfeller and Guillaume Warmuz about the place in the goal, which Weidenfeller won at the end. Warmuz changed the club than and moved to AS Monaco.
We needed another second keeper than and bought Dennis Gentenaar from Ajax Amsterdam. He is a fantastic keeper, although he is not the tallest. As he realized that he is only the number 2 behind Roman Weidenfeller he changed the club, too. His skills are to fantastic as he want to be the number 2. Understandable.
After Dennis Gentenaar we bought Bernd Meier from LR Ahlen, a club from the second league at the past. He was nearly always hurt and completed his career than, too. The next bought keeper was Marc Ziegler from Arminia Bielefeld. He was only the number 2 behind Matthias Hain there, too.
In his first business match for Borussia Dortmund (4:1 outwards in Magdeburg, DFB-Pokal first round) he doesn't play great, so that many supportes become disapproved to him.
In the following matches which he played his achievement arised, but he played only when Weidenfeller was hurt or blocked. Although he played very great and collect no goal against, he must clear the goal for Roman Weidenfeller, which feels in a bad form actually. The officers of Borussia Dortmund said: "Roman Weidenfeller is and stay the number 1, Marc Ziegler is the number 2". I can't understand it, Ziegler is the better keeper at the moment.

Now, Weidenfeller is hurt for 3 months. It would be poor to buy another number 1 now instead of appoint Ziegler for number 1 in the goal of Borussia Dortmund. It looks like Marc Ziegler can't assure the officers with achievement. And when he doesn't play if Roman Weidenfeller is hurt (so would it be, if we would buy Lehmann), when Marc Ziegler play ?

Well, the first round of the season was very varied. The preparation for the season was very good (4:0 against AS Rom) and all people were very euphoric because our new players Mladen Petric (he's a really wonderful striker ), Jakub Blaszczykowski (one of the biggest talents in poland), Diego Klimowicz, Robert Kovac and Giovanni Federico.
The first match was lost 1:3 home against climber MSV Duisburg and the following matches were sadly not better. Anytime the achievement becomes better and Borussia Dortmund climb in the table upward. The achievement was everything else than constant, we lost 0:4 in Wolfsburg after our 6:1 won against Arminia Bielefeld. The team unusual demonstrate how great they can play and that's why a lot of fans become angry. It looks sadly often like aimlessness in our matches. This weekend the second round of the season will start, Borussia Dortmund(10th of 18 ) plays outward against MSV Duisburg(18th of 18 ) which bought some new players and build round their team. We will see if Duisburgs new team will be able to afford us some problems. Borussia Dortmund have often difficulties against the petendes "smaller" teams

Lehmann has said on Arsenal.com that he has agreed to stay at Arsenal, where he is happy, loves the fans, loves the Club and still believes he can win things here.

He's considering staying as well because his kids are doing well in their English schools and he doesn't want to disturb that.

I like the man. He's a crazy dog and has given us such great memories. He'd be absolutely great for Dortmund and I can't see Almunia falling apart, so Lehmann's wishful thinking may effect his chances for playing for Germany in Euro 2008.

I think that's only empty phrases. He stay at Arsenal because his family want to stay in England and London.
It's a difficult situation for Lehmann now.

How it'll effect his chances for Euro 2008: The German Coach wants his no.1 Keeper to be competing regularly and playing regular games, not warming the bench for a non-International Keeper Almunia.

Will he get picked for the German no.1 spot if he can't get games at Arsenal?
