I guess we were a little fortunate you might say, though, to get outplayed and still be in the Cup. Still, hardly enough for you to keep going on about how 'lucky' we are.

yeah ~ luton's the team which's supposed to be lucky ~ and riise ~ phew ~ he shouldn't have tried to get the ball ~ because it's on its way to cross the line to result in a goal kick for pool T.T

yes i remember that one , we were defending champions and missed a penalty when 2-1 up , Luton then equalised and got the winner in the last minute ..

That's the one - it was a real turn up for the books, a shock win - back in the day of Champagne Charlie, Rix & Co.
And Luton had Ricky Hill and Brian Stein, I used to quite like them back then.

was you about 4 yrs old back then ... Laughing

I've seen them in semi finals few times.

I remember it like it was yesterday.

Nigel Winterburn takes a pen to give Arsenal a 3-1 lead, but Andy Dibble (later of Man City) made a brilliant save to his far left.

Then Danny Wilson equalises with a header on 82 minutes before Brian Stein rifles home the winner from Ashley Giles cross in the 88th minute.

Happy days Smile

I'm not watching it, but keeping track with gamecast. Seems like Luton are there to play though. 2 corners already. But I fear, if/once Liverpool score, the flood gates will open.

Lovely goal, Gerrard neat flick in to Torres who runs at defence plays a little pass to his right to Babel who hits a nice firm shot into the corner.

Half time aswell 1-0

I think Liverpool will get 3-4 goals in the second half.

Heartbreaker for Luton. 20 seconds away from getting away with the first half.

We were all over them that half, but all credit to the Luton defence, they defended like lions. They threw themselves in front of every shot and eventough they only had one shot on goal in the whole 45 minutes they probably didn't deserve to go in 1-0 down, but hey I aint complaining.

I'm expecting a few more goals in the second half, we need to win this comfortably.

5-0 Gerrard hatrick.

Needed this result Liverpool they needed to batter them other wise the fans may of been a bit annoyed if they only just managed to scrape past luton. But thats not happened. Liverpool dominated and were by far the better team.

Well we needed that. Badly.

A good performance and result in the end and it's nice to hammer the sh!t out of a team, even if that team is bottom of League 1. Hats off to the Hatters though, they fell apart in the second half but played very well for a club that's in the situation that they're in. Good luck to them.

Now roll on Swansea/Havant & Waterlooville! Very Happy

I don't think i heard the Liverpool fans sing at all apart from about a minute of YNWA once they were 5-0 up!

we'd lost both our centre-backs since the first leg and our goalkeeper was obviously injured (our two next reserve keepers were also injured, we almost had to give our youth team goalie his debut at anfield!) but today was really about events off the field for us. fans had gone up planning to stage a demo in favour of the fan-backed consortium that wants to take over and against the same old clique of local shysters who wanted to keep control of the club they have been asset-stripping for years. On the way up fans heard that the 2020 consortium had got exclusive bidding status and tonight was really about celebrating that for us. also about collecting the money which has saved us from having to sell one, maybe two of our best players just to make it through the season.

we may go down this year but the hatters will be back from then on stronger than ever, things have really turned a corner for us today

Cool

Well done to Luton, despite the scoreline. They played their hearts out and the fans sung their hearts out. Shame about the goal just before HT but that's football.

Flat track bully Gerrard played well.

Magnifico - are you from Luton?

What a game for their players - getting to tread the turf at Anfield, it will be an experience they'll never forget even if they do let in double figures!
