Carlisle boss John Ward was pleased to beat Port Vale 3-2 as they reached the half-way point in the league season.

The Cumbrians are second in League One after taking 42 points from the first 23 of their 46 league games.

"We're half-way through the second and second in the table, so it's time to reflect and say that's been a great effort," Ward enthused.

"It will not be easy to emulate what we have just done in the first 23 games, but we're in a terrific position."

It certainly has been a great first half to the season and Carlisle have certainly surprised many including myself with this sustained form. Keeping up this form they should easily make the playoffs and push for a place in the top two.

Sitting pretty in second spot at the moment with Joe Garner banging them in.

It's all very tight. Eleven points difference between Swansea at the top and Southend in eleventh.

Very true.

Good player Garner, bit of a revelation this season.
