I don't know - I know that some have already qualified (through WWC etc), but don't know if others can compete to qualify.

Perhaps someone here knows Wink

The draw for the Olympics 2008 has been made.

Group E

China

Sweden

Canada

Argentina

Group F

Germany

North Korea

Brazil

Nigeria

Group G

USA

Norway

Japan

New Zealand

USA look to have the easiest draw of the teams. Sweden and Germany both have it tough.

No they are in Asia nowdays, so North Korea and Japan must have, or one of them anyway.

All except the last team in each group and the worst 3rd placed team.

The Olympics start on the 8th August and finish on the 24th August. I can't seem to find a date for the women's football yet. It'll most probably be announced nearer the time.

The women's football tournament at the 2008 IOC Summer Olympics will be held from 2008-8-6 through 2008-8-21.

I really hope we'll be able to watch these matches on TV.

Thanks for the dates.

I hope so too but considering Eurosport haven't shown Four Nations , Algarve Cup or The Peace Queen Cup this year I'm not really that hopeful Sad

I have a solution. However, there are a couple hurdles. NBC (US network that have the rights to the Olympics) will be streaming the entire Beijing Olympics. By them stating 'entire', I'm assuming this means every game, every competition during the Games.

But here is the catch. You must have Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate as your operating system. So if you are using a Mac, You're out of luck; if you have a PC but you're still using XP, you're out of luck.

Catch number 2. If you have Vista on your computer, you will still need to download a piece of software from/by Wavexpress, whom is the company that NBC has partnered up with. As for the software itself, as I have never use it, nor heard of it, I can't say for sure if it'll have advertisement galore (which is likely), and/or potential spy/adware.

Ahhh, also found this.

http://www.nbcolympics.com/

Not sure if it'll be available to you in the UK or not. But you can try putting in ...

- Click on Live Coverage (button is in the main site navigation section)
- Zip Code: 22032
- It'll ask you for TV provider: Select - Cox Communications - Digital (Fairfax)
- Then NBC4 Washington 4 should come up and click save

And then have a go at it and see if the videos work.

I have noted that the squads have only 18 players.
This is ridiculous, there are 3 games in 6 days in the pools, then after a 3 days rest 3 games in 6 days again. 6 games in 15 days !
They cannot expect to have proper football played in those inhuman conditions. I remember the Atlanta tournament where the French player did not even have enough healthy valid players on the bench for the 3rd pool game.
In a way, it's a good thing England did not qualify otherwise we would have seen again this season a lot of tired player going straight to the PL from a major tournament.
