Any more updates for us dmjn???

Been reading loads on this but you never know what to believe. Heard that the yanks havn't got long to sort out the refinancing cos a repayments due, but they're confident of sortingthe finance out. So where does that leave DIC?? Hicks is still adamant he's not selling, which is hopefully just a cover up to string DIC out for a bit longer to earn more.

I hope the Yanks were watching Monday night to hear the Kop in full voice. You can count on one hand the number of times the fans have made their feelings known over the years, so I hope that they have taken note and realise they're not wanted. And Stevie's comments as well should hopefully make the penny drop and hurry and sort this out.

Just read that the yanks will have their money sorted by the weekend basically ending the DIC attempt. We could be stuck with these t%ts for years. Come on RBS pull the plug on them otherwise the fans will have to take extreme measures to force them out. I can see a leeds scenario on the horizon.

Even if they do refinance the loan doesnt meen we cant be sold it just means it will cost more for dic to buy us, dic would of waited to find out wether they could refinance anyway just on the off chance that if they couldnt they could buy the club at a knock down price. I do think that if dic are interestd the refinancing of the loan wont deter them, but i must admit im starting to have doubts on wether Hicks would sell anyway He seems quite stubborn but im trying to stay optimistic i mean if you was Hicks would you want to go and watch a football match in a stadium where there is so much animosity towards you. Lets just hope he sees sense or the almighty dollar sign from DIC $$$

Hicks doesnt hold all the aces with this.

He has problems every which way he turns.

With the Banks, George Gillett, the board, Benitez, the fans - Almost everyone you can think of.

There is definately substance to this story.

How it all plays out will be interesting to watch.

Hope it plays out in a way where Benetiz gets sacked! Laughing

Yeah hilarious...don't you have better things to do with your life then plot Benitez's sacking?

Hi,

The Hicks refinance seems to have been agreed.

But it means nothing nada or nish to the long term plans of Liverpool FC.

All this does is renegotiate the terms of the current loan.

With how much LFC cost in the first place, players bought, costs & interest.

The renegotiated loan gives the pair a few extra £££ - but it is no solution long term.

They will still need to come up with over £350million for the stadium & also players if they wish to fill it.

That is not going to happen.

The Royal Bank of Scotland had a tough time in getting the pair to put up £60million of there own wealth.

Gillett was unsure - but has agreed.

All the finance does is increase the price of LFC as a buisness.

Yes LFC have a debt now - but when DIC pounce and make there move, they will buy that debt.

Its nuts & complicated - but its all about the $$$$$$$$ - nothing more or less.

dmjn100

btw - the storys doing the rounds about David Dein are that.

Storys.

Hello forum,

The goings on within Anfield at the moment are quite outstanding.

Let me be clear from the off –

D.I.C or Dubai International Capital – Remain intent on securing Liverpool.

Regardless of what Tom Hicks said on Sportsweek on Sunday morning, which for me was at best vague, there remain serious divisions between Hicks & George Gillett.

George Gillett did sign the new finance deal, as so to safeguard his own ‘investment’ (loosely used term there) – but the relationship between the pair is at crisis point.

George Gillett’s son has LEFT Anfield at his fathers request & it’s understood by those within Anfield, he will not be returning.

George Gillett was said to be ‘outraged’ by Hick’s public comments about the approach made for Jurgen Klinsmann & pulling his son out from Anfield was a public show of his anger.

However with Foster leaving, big problems will arise as he was responsible for all the communication between the American owners & Roffa’.

I understand he got on very well with Foster & he was responsible impart for Benitez not walking out just recently. Benitez was made aware he had Gillett seniors full support, where as Hicks, as I said in another post – wanted him sacked.

Gillett vetoed the move & a power struggle ensued.

Gillett’s refusal to back Hick’s caused problems, on top of the big problems that already exist due to the financing.

George Gillett is it seems quite a decent chap. From the people I have spoken with who know him or have knowledge of him, he sounds affable, charming & I suppose most importantly, has a genuine liking for Liverpool.

Gillett wants to remain true to his word. When he promised Mr. Moore’s & the board members, his intention was not to saddle the club with debt, he meant it, but when he was gifted his opportunity to buy Liverpool, it fast became obvious he wouldn’t be able to do it on his own.

He’s paper rich – not cash rich, so as a result he approached Tom Hicks & a plan was put together quicker than a weeks holiday & the lack of initial groundwork is proving severely ill-advised.

George Gillett is said to favour doing a deal with D.I.C, as he has realised the ‘Project’ is going to prove impossible with the limited finances they have.

He understands that:

Yes – they have the money to as Tom Hicks said ‘Start digging’ but that is just about it. They do not have the means to pay for a further minimum £300+ million it will take to complete the stadium.

This is something that Tom Hicks is all too well known for.

Promising the earth – delivering nothing.

Many thousands of Texas Rangers fans would testify to that.

Promising to build the worlds best this and that’ – instead bleeding the companies of every single Dollar, Dime & Cent.

He sells club assets – from the clubs land to the best players. He minimizes wage bills & raises costs for real fans astronomically.

For any Liverpool fan who wants to see the degree of hate felt towards this man – read this:

http://rangersorrobbers.wordpress.com/2007/07/11/rangers-fans-against-hicks/

Many people are of the view that it is only a matter of time before George Gillett makes public his intention to do business with D.I.C.

Gillett knows if he forces Hicks to sell his share of Liverpool to him, then he can sell the whole package on to D.I.C, which in turn will stand to make Gillett a massive profit.

He is the one individual who can realise D.I.C’s dream.

Mr. David Moore’s held recent meetings with Gillett, with the sole intention of making it clear how deeply he disapproves of what’s gone on at the club in recent months & weeks.

He called on Gillett to honour the original terms of the takeover & has even sought legal advice, even though that avenue would achieve little in real terms.

Moore’s is seriously worried his name is turning to mud in Liverpool & is determined to win back the fans he still regards as his own. He doesn’t want to go down in Liverpool’s proud history as the man that managed to help sink Liverpool FC.

When Moore’s made his feelings known to Gillett, Gillett promised he would either live up to the original promise but if that proved impossible, he would look to do a deal with Dubai International Capital.

My friend told me Moore’s was promised Tom Hicks does not & would not have carte blanche over what happens to Liverpool.

Only last week discussions between Tom Hicks, George Gillett & D.I.C regarding the sale of Liverpool FC were ongoing – regardless of what Hicks claims.

Those negotiations are said to be ongoing as we speak.

D.I.C are determined to gain hold of Liverpool, but do not want to be seen or be perceived to be paying massively over the odds for the club. They think that would set a dangerous precedent & send out the wrong message to people who they deal with in the future.

But no matter how vitriolic the statements Hicks makes regarding selling, the facts are:

He is hanging on to his piece of Liverpool by a thread.

When D.I.C make there move and come to agreement with Gillett, Hicks will have no choice but to re-evaluate his options.

So Liverpool FC Fans.

Don’t panic.

There really is a bright light at the end of this ugly tunnel & that light in the form of D.I.C will make recent events pale into insignificance & resign Tom Hicks to his rightful place:

The history books.

Also staying with Liverpool & in response to your question Denzil - The D.I.C takeover is gathering pace & they are set to make there move within days'.

EXCLUSIVE:

Dubai's bid to divide Liverpool FC's owners

Feb 2 2008

DUBAI-BASED consortium DIC was last night set to join forces with Liverpool FC co-owner George Gillett in a bid to buy out his partner Tom Hicks.

Events could move forward within a matter of days, with figures close to the club anxious to see a rapid conclusion to what is seen as a damaging distraction at a crucial time in the season.

Relations between Gillett and Hicks are at an all time low, with Gillett remaining silent, but understood to be privately furious with his partner’s unsanctioned public statements over club affairs.

Gillett originally brokered the deal to buy Liverpool, but was forced to bring the significantly wealthier Hicks on board to be able to afford the buy-out.

Now, with the first anniversary of the takeover looming next week, relations have soured between the two men to such a degree that Gillett’s son Foster, who moved to Liverpool to represent the Americans and work alongside club chief executive Rick Parry, returned to the US 3½ weeks ago, and has not been seen at the club since.

The Daily Post understands that Foster Gillett and his wife have no plans to return to the city, despite having recently bought a £1m home in Woolton. The final twist of the knife for George Gillett came when Hicks went public last month with their approach in November to Jurgen Klinsmann as a possible replacement for beleaguered manager Rafael Benitez.

DIC (Dubai International Capital), led by Sameer Al Ansari whose £4,500 a share offer for Liverpool last year was trumped when Hicks helped Gillett to bankroll a successful £5,000 a share offer, are known to be keen to test the resolution of the Americans with a new offer.

Hicks has stated repeatedly that he has no intention of selling in the short term. It is believed he sees the potential to sell the club for well over £1bn in 2012, if the 70,000 seater stadium plan is delivered.

But Gillett is equally determined to hang on to his interest in the club, seeing the whole takeover as his deal, with Hicks merely providing the financial clout to make it happen.

With relations between the pair at such a low ebb, insiders doubt whether both of them can remain as co-owners. The Dubai proposal would allow Gillett to carry forward his plans, while allowing Hicks an exit-strategy with a healthy profit on his 12 months investment.

One source close to the negotiations told the Daily Post last night: “Discussions are still ongoing with DIC. They would be happy to take Hicks out and work with Gillett, or they would be happy to take both of them out.

“But DIC doesn’t want to pay Hicks a huge premium. The key is to get a deal done within days rather than weeks.

“All this has been a huge distraction at the club. Hicks insists on valuing the club at £1bn because he includes the valuation after the stadium is in place, yet it is not even built and doesn’t even have planning permission for the 70,000 seats.”

Hicks has matched Gillett’s £20m personal investment in the club following last week’s £350m refinancing deal, and is likely to be offered double that sum by the Dubai consortium to walk away.

No-one for DIC was available to comment last night while Mr Gillett’s office declined to discuss the matter.

Liverpool FC had no comment to make on the issue.

But a spokesman for Tom Hicks told the Daily Post he remained determined to stay at Liverpool FC.

He said: “As we have said previously and repeatedly, Liverpool Football Club is not for sale.

“Mr Hicks has been very clear in terms of the club not being for sale and that has not changed in any way, shape or form.”

****************

As I said before - it doesnt matter one bit what Hicks says regarding the sale of LFC.

If Gillett, as expected breaks from him - he can buy Hicks out. not the other way round.

It was George Gilletts deal originally & that was a term he insisted on when bringing Tom Hicks in.

Again - Tom Hicks does not have that written in his part of the deal - so he cannot turf out Gillett.

And in any case - Gillett is the richer of the pair.

Watch this space.

Redsrule.

In my opinion - Yes DIC will be involved somehow by the end of the season.

If they go it alone and buy out both Americans - or - if they just buy out Hicks & work with Gillett remains to be seen.

But they wont lose out twice.

Yeah, that's what i thought. But i got confused, because in the paper it had an article about Gillett and Hicks, and then next to it it had something about Gillette razors, and how much of a rip off they are.
Like they were trying to get people to stop buying them. And also i saw an advertisement board for Gillette on a Liverpool reserve match the other day.

How long before the takeover happens then dmjn? Are we talking in the next few weeks, or is is more likely at the end of the season?

I know all Hicks's talk is just him playing hard to get, he's not gonna roll over and let DIC buy him out on the cheap.

I saw your other post about Alonso as well. Shame if we let him go, but he doesn't seem to have got back to his best after the injury, and Masch's progress has to be a factor too.

Long way to go til the end of the season, and a lot can change, but if Rafa's still in charge, are we looking at a big overhaul of the squad int he summer?? In my opinion the players that need to go are.... Voronin is not good enough, Kuyt works hard but doesn't score enough, Riise has been poor this season and has maybe come to the end of his time at Anfield.
