Central Coast Mariners temporarily hold top spot in the Hyundai A-League after they defeated Wellington Phoenix 2-0 at a saturated Bluetongue Stadium in front of 9,849 fans on Saturday night.
Goals to John Aloisi in the 52nd minute and to Adam Kwasnik in the 93rd gave the Mariners victory in difficult conditions. ps.. i can get the score differences right but not the actual scores!!! |

I knew the 'Nix would lose this one, but then again who cares?
We were well out of playoff chances anyway. Still, I'm quite proud of our first season, some really great moments and a lot to build on for next season. Good to see that the support in Wellington is already that strong - and that New Zealand have for once a team in the Australian League which doesn't serve as an "easy three points" to the rest |

Welcome, Viola
How did you come to support Wellington from Austria? Great to see someone from Europe taking an interest in the league |
