You got my vote Bluey, I think Everton will pip Liverpool to it, although a lot depends on how far Liverpool go in the cups etc.

Will be close between the two.

Steely,

Would the result of l'pool v villa change your mind if villa hammered them? I'm sure the owners would start looking for new management again. Very Happy

no, it wouldnt.

in my opinion Liverpool are much the better team and have the upper hand in every aspect.

although perhaps if they did get a new manager they would actually be able to look at challenging for a title one day.

As is putting Liverpool 7th...

I tend to agree with Jono that it could come down to where either team gets to in their respective cups. We're at a real low with mentality and the Americans/Rafa/DIC debacle is not going to go away any time soon, which will further unsettle us.

We are the better side as players go, of course, but with every win Everton gain their confidence grows. It'll be close i feel... if our home form doesn't improve i could see us missing out.

Also the key lies in winning the position back asap. I know it seems self-explanatory. Once they have it it's hard to get back, as we saw when they pipped us to it a few seasons back.

4. Liverpool
5. Everton
6. Aston Villa
7. Tottenham
8. Portsmouth
9. Man City
10. Blackburn

I actually think Villa will be leading the pack in fourth with a few weeks to go, until they realise that they have the smallest squad in the Premier League and purposefully capitulate so to avoid Champions League football.

Man City's fate could lie in what they do in the transfer market, to be honest.

Liverpool should get the 4th spot, but I can't see it happening. I'd like to see either Spurs or Newcastle take 4th place...but I know that's a long shot....so I'd be happy seeing Man City finish 4th.

Fancy Liverpool too. Once they get their finger out and start putting performances in like they can, they'll string a few wins together and start to edge up there

i really think Moyes is turning Everton into a force to be reckoned with , it is arguable who is the best team on Merseyside at the moment ...and i am not talking in terms of league position ...Everton are certainly giving Liverpool cause to be concerned .

I predict Everton will pip Liverpool to 4th spot and prove they have what it takes to challenge the big four .

i know this will shock Bluenose but i would actually prefer Everton to finish 4th than Liverpool.

id love to see this big 4 mentality broken but it wont be done in one season. it would take a couple of consistently good seasons from the rest of the league and equally a couple of bad seasons from Liverpool or other big 4 team.

i just cant see it happening consistently though which is why i will still go with Liverpool.
