Bayern Munich are willing to let Lukas Podolski leave the club on loan, in a change of heart that could prompt Manchester City to make a bid.

The Germany international has fallen down the Bavarian club's striking pecking order this season, having to play second fiddle to the likes of Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni.

Podolski is thought to be worried about his prospects of being called-up to Germany's European Championship squad given his lack of playing time this term.

Bayern had initially been reticent to sanction Podolski's exit, but general manager Uli Hoeness now concedes a temporary parting of ways could benefit both parties.

He added: "I want to help him to make it to the European Championships.

"And if we loan him out and everything goes well, we have done everything right.

He seemed to be a good lively player whenever I saw him, he had a good World Cup but ive hardly seen him play since then. Would be a good signing for City if they could get him

Let's wait if the accomplishment of Podolski will be better when Jürgen Klinsmann gets the coach. Podolski played in the nationalteam, during Klinsmann was the coach, still fantastic. But the rivalry is with Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni very, very heavy.

Yeah its not exactly easy to get into the team with those two for competition. Hes a quality player and should really be playing Champions League football. City signed Nery Castillo so im guessing theyre not after him anymore now..

In Germany a lot of people think, FC Bayern München buy some called "Shootingstars" (means: Newcomers) only because they don't want that other clubs are successfull with them after they bought them.
Does this charge reached the people in other countries ?

I think it would be better for Podolski when he moved from 1. FC Köln to Werder Bremen or another club. He played 2-3 great seasons for 1. FC Köln and is a very hopefull youngster, but I think the change to FC Bayern München was to early.

@Conaldinho:
Could you explain your last sentence, please? I don't understand it Embarassed

Man City signed Nery Castillo last week, hes a striker so they probably dont want Podolski anymore.
