i believe it's a word from a gooner.. your keeper can't be better than him.. well.. what can i say?.. we won the match.. 3 goals to one.. and that wasn't our best performance.. Spurs player were playing superb.. it's a brilliant pass from lennon and keano wasn't even marked.. our defs were so scattered without vidic.. that Spurs managed to put a lot of pressure on us.. twice striking by jenas and one from berbie were Spurs' best chances.. the first one by jenas credited to v.d.sar's best tip.. and the second one's a good chance but the ball ended up rolling wide.. and Spurs could've scored against through berbie's shot if it didn't hit the post.. our first goal's really nice by tevez.. can't tell about the second one though.. and the third one's slightly deflected too.. we could simpley be lucky a little bit tonight.. it's good to see o'hara decided to take the free kick.. his kick wasn't really far away from the target.. he could possibly be a new free-kick taker.. edit.. omigod.. how come i forgot to mention.. it's great to see scholesy <33 back on the pitch.. |

Are you Arsenal, are you Arsenal, are you Arsenal in disguise! Classic indeed That was a good game I have to say, pretty open and attacking... Certainly not dull like I heard some people predict. It has to be said that we weren't at it at all for a lot of the game, while we pressed and pressed there just wasn't any incision or killer instinct. Two main points were highlighted in my eyes; -How valuable Nemanja Vidic is to the team, the defence just wasn't anywhere near as stable as it would have been with him in there. I seen the line-up at the start and I thought that Brown would have been a more than adequate replacement but he and Ferdinand didn't have that cohesion we have come to expect in central defence. As a result the whole back four was off balance and Spurs were finding holes which could have seen a few more goals leaked through and I'm certain that wouldn't have been the case had we have had Vidic in there. -I'll sound like a broken record again here because I say this everytime these two players in question start a game, Carrick and Hargreaves in the centre of midfield... Up until now, I've seen absolutely no indication of it clicking. I watch them playing together and all too often they get pulled too narrow almost as if they are trying to do exactly the same job, I don't think that could be the case because Sir Alex is hardly going to send them out with the same instructions. In my opinion they should both be playing for one position, the one they are both best at and that is the holding role in midfield. The proof was there for all to see when Scholesy came on for Carrick, the ginger ninja was dropping off left, right, spraying balls all over the park whilst Hargreaves (the holding midfielder) cleared up behind him. That's how it should be. But all in all, a solid result with an admittedly flattering scoreline and progression into the next round, I can't really complain overall. Absolutely amazing having Scholesy back he looks fresh and rejuvinated, and there seems to be no apparent hangover from his injury, onwards and upwards for himself and the team. Good stuff. |

Just woke up to this result, disapointing but it was always going to be a big ask for the lads to get themsleves back up for beating a top four side after the match last week.
Sounds like we gave a pretty good account of ourselves tho, it is amazing to see the contrast between Michael Dawson with King next to him and Micahel Dawson without, its like he instantly transforms into a bumbling idiot without big Ledley. |

So an afternoon out at Old Trafford was never going to be easy, but I felt the 3-1 scoreline was a tad flattering to United.
Had Jenas done better when one on one, and Berbatov scored rather than hit the post then who knows. But it is all 'if's and but's' and overall United fully deserved the victory in my opinion. I was pleased with how well Teemu Tainio played on top of his midweek effort - the Arsenal match took a lot out of us but I'm not using that as an excuse. |

I'm not of the same opinion. Manchester United were clearly the better but Spurs did have a good game. |

I agree with Sparky. It was a flattering scoreline for the Mancs.
If anything, Spurs created the bigger chances in the game with Jenas and Lennon having great one-on-one opportunities and Malbranque's chip cracked the post via a Wes Brown flick. Man Utd relied on the penalty to get in front and that wasn't reflective of the game at that time - Dawson's rush of blood cost them dearly despite Man Utd just launching a long ball forwards. Dawson made a massive mess of it. From then on I knew it was always going to be a struggle for Spurs, but they did well enough and created more opportunities with Man United playing on the break and stretching Spurs; hence the Ronaldo runs; hence the Ronaldo goal and the time & space he had for it. Wasn't impressed with the game myself. Keane's goal was nicely done and there were some typical classy touches from the likes of Berbatov and Ronaldo, but other than that it was quite a mediocre tie due to the lack of quality in the final third and the defensive errors from both sides that should have been punished, but equally the finishing wasn't great. How Jenas failed to score I don't know. Then Ronaldo was very quiet at the other end for the best part of the game and Giggs was majorly disappointing, despite the continuous service. Credit to O'Hara though who played in an unnatural position against an on form and top class Winger - he did his best and helped keep the Winger quiet, whilst he showed great focus and confidence when distributing the ball and even taking those freekicks. Hargreaves impressed me the most. Despite losing his marker on a few occasions, he was full of desire and very strong in the middle - or what these pundits now call a "screener" in front of the back four. |

A deserved win for United. Spurs looked good till they scored then the invited aload of pressure which they cldn't cope with.
I also would like to mention the lack of atmosphere. For a FA cup game i expected alot more but it really was quiet at time. Watching the last 2 Chelsea games Everton away and Wigan away the Chelsea fans have been amazing, and looking back at the throughout the years it's a fact manager and players have critisized the atmopsphere at Old Trafford. |

Back to reality like I predicted but we can still hold our heads up high.
Maybe the scoreline was a tad harsh on Spurs who had played in midweek and had King, Bale and Chimbonda - three first choice defenders - all missing. It's ironic that the other first choice defender Dawson played like a donkey but like Jono said above he tends to do that when King isn't there. Shocking defending by him, especially for the first goal where you simply can't head the ball up in the air in the penalty box like that; he should have glanced it away. Lovely goal by Keane after excellent wing play by Lennon. The Evra/Lennon battle was a brilliant contest. I loved the moment when Lennon left him for dead and then put him on his backside - Evra is one of the best full backs in the Premiership and also one of the fastest so that was no mean feat at all. Jenas should have put us back in front twice but for some reason he chooses to side foot the ball rather than just blast it. When he missed them you just knew that that would prove costly. Against United those chances have to be taken. Ronaldo scored twice but I don't think he had a great game. O Hara played him pretty well and nullified a lot of his threat. The third goal was unfortunate but I wouldn't blame Cerny for that as the ball took a clear deflection and was struck quite hard. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there. Just one final thing about Rooney. Someone needs to stick a bar of soap in his mouth to wash away a lot of the sh!t that comes out of it. How he wasn't booked for constantly swearing at the officials I don't know. Actually I do: it's because he plays for Man Utd and they are often given preferential treatment by referees. |
