Ivory Coast Vs Benin |
|
The first game of the day in Group B that kicks off at around 17:00 GMT. Many people's favourites for the tournaments look to follow up there win against Nigeria with a comfortable victory over minnows Benin.
I fancy a 3-0 Ivorian win. |

Poor old Benin, they had held out and frustrated Ivory Coast for virtually 40 minutes but two goals in quick succession from Drogba and Yaya Toure, the latter after great work from his brother Kolo who set it up on a plate for him.
Half time at 2-0. |

3-0 Keita, after he and Drogba mugged the Benin defender of the ball.

4-0 great ball from Drogba and a powerful header from Dindane.

ivory coast and egypt are my favourites to win. ghana lack fire power and morocco will not make the 2 nd round...they fully deserve the tag 'spain of africa'

It's a shame because they have players of such talent. They really threw it away yesterday.

the least we can do now is put on trhe performance of our lives against ghana a hope we pull it off. Morocco really need to start showing what they are capable off on mainland africa..we are very poor travellers. At home it is a different story we are almost invincible but on the road we crumble..very very strange.

I heard Toure got stretchered off, hope its nothing trivial.

Looked fairly serious.
Good for Benin to get a goal. Finished 4-1. |

Wait wait. Which Toure? |

Kolo I'm afraid!

Comfortable win for the Ivorians although Benin did themselves proud and I thought their goal was a cracker, albeit meaningless to the game.
Kolo got an injury, but hopefully just a knock. Not that it would effect us, as in truth it'd keep him out of the African Nations (if it's a muscle injury) and not burn him out for when he returns to us. I'd prefer to see him compete though as he can be the man to hold up Ivory Coast all the way to the final. |

Yaya Toure was MOTM for me. Great signing for Barcelona.
Kolo Toure 's case looked serious. I hope I am wrong. Favorite to win are definitely Cote d'ivoire and Egypt. |

Agree there Afrinux. I've been impressed with Benin a little as well though, there players play in the third and fourth divisions from around the world and have still done themselves and their nations proud.

Me too. As I don't know any player from Benin, I thought Ivory Coast would crush them. They hold up very well until the last minutes of the first half. Their defense could do nothing against the Drogba's goal, world class. Nice through ball by Toure Yaya, and we already know that no defense in the world can't stop Drogba in those kind of actions. |

It says something when one of their best known players plays for Accrington Stanley.
They've done themselves and their nation proud. |
