It's a very small competition. How so?

There are more rounds after, when the K-league clubs enter.
The whole Korean football pyramid isn't huge. So they invite University teams to play in the competition and also local neighborhood teams. Technically, you and I could go to Korea, and make a neighborhood team and possibly make it into this competition on invitation if we are good enough. As a whole it's a pretty long competition now. The competition used to be played on a very short timescale. However, to elevate the quality of competition it's been spread out throughout the season. Now it starts in early March, and other rounds played in April, July, August and November. The final is usually played in December. |
