Taylor eyes Toon revival |

Newcastle defender Stephen Taylor believes the club has turned the corner with the new signings made by Graeme Souness.
The Magpies have still not scored in The Premiership this season, but Souness managed to add Nolberto Solano, Albert Luque and Michael Owen to his squad before the close of the transfer window. Taylor's form has been one bright spot for Newcastle in an otherwise dismal start to the season, and he continued that run with a goal for England Under-21s against Germany on Tuesday. The new arrivals, especially England striker Michael Owen, has lifted the mood on Tyneside and Taylor believes they will now start improving their Premiership results. "The worst thing about football - and really it is the only thing I cannot stand- is losing," said Taylor. "None of the players at Newcastle are happy with our performances so far and I know I am not pleased with where we stand in the table. "I find it difficult even to look at the league table because it is so annoying. "It has been very frustrating but hopefully we have turned the corner now and results, I am absolutely certain, will improve. They have to. "This club is far too big for the supporters to settle for second best and I should know, I used to sit with them." Taylor could face a battle for his first team place with Titus Bramble recovering from injury, but he insists he will play anywhere to get a game. The 19-year-old also believes that under-fire manager Graeme Souness is the right man to turn things around at the club. "I don't mind where I play as long as I am in the team and that is up to the gaffer. Wherever the boss tells me to play, that is what I will do. "We are in a tough situation and we need all the players to give absolutely everything and I am completely positive the boss will get that. "We have some hard fixtures coming up, but with the players we now have in the side we have got to start winning. "Nothing else matters in football." |
