Luque worry for Toon |
|
Albert Luque is a doubt for Newcastle's Premiership clash with Fulham on Saturday after picking up an injury playing for Spain.
Luque was only introduced as a second half substitute for the final 16 minutes of their World Cup qualifying draw against Serbia & Montenegro on Wednesday. The former Deportivo La Coruna marksman picked up an ankle injury shortly after coming on but Spain had already made their three substitutions and he had to play on until the final whistle. Luque will now undergo tests back at Newcastle but early indications say that he will not be able to make Saturday's visit of Fulham to St James' Park. News of Luque's problems will be a further headache to Graeme Souness who has been struggling with injury problems since the start of the season. Luque made a promising debut at Newcastle but it now looks unlikely that he will be able to play alongside fellow new signings Michael Owen and Nolberto Solano against Fulham. |
