Tümer winner upsets Ukraine
-- GOAL VİDEO------>>>>>> http://rapidshare.de/files/4835990/Tur1-Ukr0-TumerGol.mpg.html With Ukraine still celebrating their first FIFA World Cup qualification, Turkey gate-crashed the party to take three vital points in their bid for a play-off place from Group 2. Tümer winner It was Denmark's late equaliser against Turkey on Saturday that ensured today's visitors could not catch Ukraine, who drew in Georgia, at the top of the group. But Tümer Metin's first-half goal in Kiev kept the visitors second in the pool, though Greece and Denmark are still breathing down their necks following victories tonight. Ukraine changes A crowd of 75,000 were at the Olyimpiyskiy stadium to hail their Ukrainian heroes, whose coach Oleh Blokhin left out strikers Andriy Shevchenko and Serhiy Rebrov and dropped Andriy Husin to the bench with Vladislav Vaschuk starting. However, they went close early on, FC Shakhtar Donetsk midfield Anatoliy Tymoschuk's free-kick beating the wall but flying just past the post. Demirel flawless At the other end Gökdeniz Karadeniz was denied from close range by home goalkeeper Olexandr Shovkovskiy. Ukraine had the upper hand late in the half with Andriy Voronin and Tymoschuk again going close, but visiting goalkeeper Volkan Demirel was flawless. However, early in the second half it was Turkey who broke the deadlock. In a swift break, Tümer played a one-two with Hakan Sükür and the Besiktas JK striker raced clear and found the bottom corner - the first goal Ukraine had conceded at home in the group since October 2004. Home side push Soon after Olexiy Bielik headed a corner over Demirel but the ball looped on to the bar, and from another set-piece Serhiy Fedorov found himself unmarked in the corner of the area but missed the target. Standing firm Oleh Venhlinskiy had Ukraine's last chance of the night as he raced one-on-one with the goalkeeper after a slip from Secuk Sahin, but again the shot was wayward. Turkey stood firm as Ukraine surged forward late on to retain second place in the group. However, with Greece two points behind with a game in hand, Turkey could be in third when they go to Albania on 12 October. İ TAKE THİS FROM UEFA.com THANKS |
