Who do you think will go all the farthest of the British clubs in the UEFA Cup? Can Aberdeen, Bolton, Everton or Tottenham make it all the way to a presitigious European cup final in ... Manchester?

The fixtures for each team including their potential last 16 matches:

Aberdeen vs. Bayern Munich (2-2)
Anderlecht/Bordeaux vs. Aberdeen

Bolton vs. Atletico Madrid (1-0)
Bolton vs. Sporting Lisbon/Basel

Brann vs. Everton (0-2)
Rosenborg/Fiorentina vs. Everton

Slavia Prague vs. Tottenham (1-2)
PSV Eindhoven/Helsingborg

Rangers vs. Panathinaikos (0-0)
Rangers vs. Werder Bremen/Sporting Braga

I'm not saying this as a Liverpool fan, but from what i've seen of Everton so far - and i think when they come up against a real side they may struggle. The strength of certain sides are quite high and watching them stutter against the likes of Brann leaves me unconvinced... Bolton and Aberdeen i doubt will even progress past this round, and so my money has to be on Tottenham. Not that i think anyone will make the final... Perhaps quarters or semi's for Spurs.

Should PSV make it into the next round we're set for a cracker of a match. Spurs will be up against it though, considering the Dutch side were only last season taking part in the knockout stages of the Champions League; exiting at the hands of eventual finalists (can't remember who they were exactly...) after throwing Arsenal out.

No Rangers?

Good choice

Anyway, I fancy Spurs to win it this year you know. have improved alot recently and were unlucky last season when I thought they would go all the way. Can't see Bolton, Rangers or Aberdeen making it through so it's between the yids and that other scouse crowd

In an ideal world I would love to see Everton and Spurs get to the Final (no disrespect to Bolton and Aberdeen there) but realistically it probably won't happen.

Now obviously I would LOVE to see Tottenham go all the way...but I have a funny feeling, call it an uncomfortable twinge, that all this talk of Ramos may be our undoing.
Whilst I feel we have improved massively under Ramos and Poyet, it is still very early in his tenure and any talk of winning the competition could prove fateful in my opinion, and even possibly put the team under great expectation and pressure (again, only a few months into his reign)

I hope I am wrong, but I don't think we will go all the way....just yet.

You'd of hung me if it was Celtic instead... But no, i wish i could say it was purposely done, but i just totally forgot about them. Embarassed

It's not like they're going to get past Werder Bremen anyway mind. But can a mod edit the poll to include them?

Looking at who they would face in the next round, assuming they proceed from this round first, they all could have a very tough tie.

Should Aberdeen knock out Bayern, which in fairness isnt likely, they could face Anderlecht of Bordeaux. either of these would be a hard opposition. And by going on their lack of European experience, i doubt Aberdeen will get any further than Bayern.

Bolton could come up against Sporting in their next round tie. If they make it to that stage, i dont think they'll get any further.

Everton have a good chance. They got a good strong squad, and are on a great run in the Prem. Their possible next round tie shouldn't be too hard imo.

If i had to pick between Spurs or Everton to go the furthest, I'd say Spurs for their experience they've had in the UEFA cup over recent years.

I believe Tottenham are one of the better teams in it, but i worry for them if they play PSV. It's a shame, because i can't see them getting past PSV, but i'd love to see them make the final. I think that's the ebst they can hope for. I can't see anyone beating Bayern. But football is football, so who knows. Atletico and PSV might have a chance, and if Bremen and Tottenham are on song then who knows.

They still have to play us (Panathinaikos) in Athens first. It's going to be tight, but i think we can knock them out.

After that, i just hope Werder play as badly against us as they played against Olympiakos. Cause i watched both those games and they were HORRIBLE. It'll be a shame if we get them on their good day, provided we go though...

To be brutally honest, I can not see any of the British teams remaining in the tournament winning it. I echo Ben's sentiments with regards to Everton in the competition, I have seen them struggle to pull off results against weaker teams such as Metalist Kharkiv, SK Brann, Nuremburg and to a lesser extent, Zenit St. Petersburg which leads me to believe that against a better team they may struggle to compete. Although I do like Everton so hope they can prove me wrong here. Providing they do not make a hash of the home leg against Brann, and Fiorentina similarly finish the job against Norwegians Rosenborg, the Blues meeting the Sicilians will be an intriguing match up and would seriously test their credentials in this tournament, given Fiorentina's fine league form.

Spurs for me are the side I could see progressing furthest if they play to their full potential, they should not slip up at home to Slavia Prague and they have looked relatively comfortable all tournament. However like many, i have slight reservations about their ability to overcome a very strong, hungry looking PSV side who should progress comfortably providing there are no shocks in their return leg with Swedish side Hammarby. PSV are a very pacey, attacking side with one or two lethal scorers and a world class goalkeeper and will be a real test of character for Spurs, a test i will be intrigued to see if they can overcome.

Bolton, Bolton, Bolton. A team that have become notoriously hard to predict in this competition of late, from the dazzling highs of pulling of results against Bayern Munich and of course most recently Atletico Madrid, to massively struggling against the likes of Aris Thessalonika of Greece.. Although that result at the Reebok will I am sure live in the memory for years to come, i do not expect them to pull of a similar fete in the return leg in the Spanish capital, in fact f i am honest i can see them being comfortably dispatched by Forlan and co. Although I don't think they should be written off all that easily, however I think this will be as far as they go in the tournament this year.

Rangers for me will be extremely fortunate to progress any further in this years Uefa Cup, they blew their chance during the week at home to Panathanikos, and i fully expect the Greek giants to win comfortably in Athens next week. Even if by some stroke of good fortune they did progress into the next round, I can not see them overcoming a classy side such as Werder Bremen.

Aberdeen have done themselves extremely well just to make it this far, after many doubted their abilities to get out of the group stage. The draw was cruel to them, getting a tie against many peoples favourites to win the tournament Bayern Munich, and they did themselves proud further to get a 2-2 draw against th Germans in a game which many say could have swung in the Dons favour. I do think that it will be an almighty task to get a result to see them through at the Allianz Arena, with Bayern having two away goals yet as they say football is a funny game! It will be too tough in Munich for them though in my opinion.

Looks like the huns are going throught after all. Nothing beats defending for 110mins to grab a scabby away goal. Total football

What a heartbreaking result and game...

Panathinaikos were great for about 65 minutes and we were leading 1-0 and then our stupid manager decides that maybe it's a good idea to try and sit on our lead, even though up to that point (and for a few more minutes) Rangers had not even come close to our box. All it took was a lucky deflection after a cross to confuse one of our defenders who didn't manage to clear it well and it landed in Novo's feet, who wasn't going to miss from that distance.

I really thought we might have had a chance to reach the quarters or even semis had we not given away that silly goal on Thursday...

Wiese f*cks up in Europe yet again.

remember him 2 years ago against Juventus? the game was almost over and he practically gave the ball to Emerson who scored the winner, leaving Werder out of the quarters

looks like *oops* he did it again
