How do you know these things!?!? I must live 20 mins from Cathedral road but I have no idea!? And a welsh passport!?! didn't know there was such a thing! it's true that you do learn something new every day! You are a fountain of knowledge.

Hmm, criminal record? me? No no...I shall check this out for my 'friend' who didn't get charged, I specifically remember this friend not being convicted...but if she were a cat she'd used 8 of her 9 lives I believe were the words they used Cool

Google is a great tool. (that's how I found out about the liaison office in Cardiff.) Smile

I have no idea about Wales having a separate passport or not. I'm just assuming. But I do know the United Kingdom passport covers England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar. Which if you have, will make you eligible, but not guaranteed.

Oh and actual passport requirements: (which shouldn't be an issue considering it's a UK passport and not some smaller country that isn't up to date on technologies)
- Machine-readable passports issued or renewed/extended on or after 10/26/06 – requires integrated chip with information from the data page.
- Machine-readable passports issued or renewed/extended between 10/26/05 and 10/25/06 – requires digital photograph printed on the data page or integrated chip with information from the data page.
- Machine-readable passports issued or renewed/extended before 10/26/05 – no further requirements.

If it's on your criminal record you need a visa. Doesn't matter how long ago or how small of a crime it was. If you stole a bag of chips and got charged for it and they put it on your record, you need a visa.

Also make sure you have a British passport and not a Welsh passport. If you have a Welsh one, you need a visa.

If you want to make sure you qualify, call the U.S. embassy in London.

There is apparently a liaison office in Cardiff as well that should be able to help you.
