Barcelona taught Levante a good lesson, and Getafe stunned Real Madrid. The gap is only 2 points now.
The title race is opened again. Very Happy Very Happy

Would like to say that Real were just making the title race interesting again, befor epulling away.

Their last couple of performances in the league though have not been anything to write how about, but hey win all their remaining games and they are champions Laughing

Hehe Barcelona fans were talking like losers a couple of weeks ago and now they're talking like winners. Find a balance! Razz
But hey at least there's a more interesting championship now! Smile

I'm really disappointed we have allowed our 8 point lead to diminish. Barcelona now have regained hope, they can win the title. Which is a shame. But overall it makes the title race more exciting.

At the start of the season. I had a feeling, that our second match against Barca, would be significant.

You are the losers here. You managed to waste an 8-point lead in only 2 weeks! Any sane person (Barca fan or not) could see that Real would have to commit harakiri in order for us to come back in the race... and guess what?! You did just that!!!

I do admit that we couldn't have done it so soon had it not been for a stupid assistant ref in Zaragoza (who should have seen Henry's handball from the angle he was standing at), but that's beyond the point cause both teams are favoured by the refs throughout the season.

BTW, i'd much rather sound reasonably doubtful over our chances in a less-than-ideal season than unreasonably cocky, when it's obvious your team is not exactly firing on all cylinders (unless you let that 7-0 result go to your head), especially when certain players are not playing (eg Robinho).

For the record, i still consider you the favourites. A 2-point lead is a 2-point lead.

That's what I was talking about. Don't talk like a winner unless you have won something. And don't talk like a loser if you can still win.

what if i am a pessimistic person by nature? obviously, an 8-point lead being clipped down to 2 is something not even an optimistic Barca fan would have imagined 2 weeks ago.

i just hate fans who see their team is way behind the leaders on points and insist that they can still win the title. I mean, it's possible, but how often does that happen? once every 10 years? as i said, i prefer to be realistic. but maybe it was a mistake starting that thread declaring the title race over. it was just a pre-emptive strike on my part, i guess.

let's see what happens in the next few weeks...

Champions League results will have a huge influence in the title race, as always. At the moment its most likely that Barça advances without major problems while Real will have to do their very best to pass through Roma. Of course they dont wanna quit the CL, but if they do they'll have a considerable advantage over los Culés in La Liga

i was hoping for a draw against Atletico but we couldn't even manage that... 4-2, that's embarrassing for our defence. you can't score 2 goals away at Atletico and not even manage a draw!

Robinho scored 2 to give Real the 3-1 win over Huelva and now the gap is back to 5 points...

Barça played well in the first minutes but our defenders didn't play well. If we consider that in the last 4 games we have played away against Sevilla, Zaragoza and Atletico 5 points isn't bad but you know before today we were only 2 points behind and is a bad sensation. In the games Madrid - Atletico and Barça - Atletico every season are more points for Madrid.

Why Rijkaard left out Yaya in this crucial game? Why Messi started on the bench?

We are good friends in Madrid. Now Real has to win Espanyol next week, and Sevilla when they visit you.

it's over. back to 8 points again.

and Senna's goal at the end should have stood. he wasn't offside when the ball was hit.

congrats to Villareal.

we badly needed Messi today. the combination for our goal aside, we didn't show much imagination going forward.

most of the remaining games for both teams will be tough, but i doubt you'll manage to waste another 8-point lead

you were lucky that right after you lost those 6 points we had to face Atletico and Villareal, but i'm not gonna make any excuses. both teams played better than us and we deserved to lose both matches.

Agree, without Messi Barça have a lot of problems to attack.
