ok ....not too many teams have won the World Cup over the years ...England , Germany , Brazil , France , Italy , Uruguay , Holland , Argentina .....have i missed any ...?

What the big question is what team was the greatest ...our heroes of 66 on home soil ....winning a thrilling match against West Germany 4-2 with the famous hatrick by Geoff Hurst .

or was it the Maradonna inspired Argentina who can claim that crown ...

now Pele is widely regarded as the greatest ever player but was one of the Brazil teams that won the World Cup the greatest ever in the history of the World Cup

Italy and Holland have had some great teams in the World Cup ...have they been good enough to win the title of best team ever to win the World Cup though ..

and then there is Uruguay ...hard maybe for any of us to remember ....or France ....Zidane and co ...

What team was the best ever to win the World Cup .......?

You havent missed any, you even have one too much on your list Very Happy
Holland never won the world cup Wink

Best team? Hard to say, i think playstyles have changed over the years. A Pele Brazil team would probably lose to modern football teams...
But if you look at the individual World cups, i think France was pretty strong in 1998. Or Brazil in 1982(?).

I don't know about the best, but the one I remember the most is France in 1998.

well.. i don't mind any teams to win the world cup.. but the brasilians and argentinians.. they've won enough.. time to share and let others have the cup.. ~.~

i also remembered france 98 most.. i even remember i had a tee pictured the huge icon of french rooster.. lol.. and it's fantastic to see that the french team's winning.. although i'd rather england to have it so much.. they're always a good team that strangely never wins anything.. T.T

anyway.. capello would win us the cup this 2010.. no worries.. XD

For what I've seen in videos, probably Brazil 1970... That Pele seemed to be good, right? Mr. Green

Yep, agree with this. Brazil 1970 were probably the best team ever.

I don't think there has been one oustading team that has won the world cup. Each team that has won it has deserved it thought. Each being too good at the time to win the cup.

Wasn't alive but it seems that any team that can take apart the defending world champions must be something special. From the video I saw of the game it was only Gordon Banks that kept England in the game

Argentina won only twice, and the last one more than 20 years ago

For the best team I cant think of any other than Brazil 1970. And not only for Pelé. Gérson, Tostão, Jairzinho...all were genius

Don't know about all that but Holland must go down as the greatest team that have never won it. Shocked if you get what I mean.

btw.
The greatest player for England in 66 was the ref... Razz

You've got it all wrong. It wasn't England that won it in 66, it was West Haaaam! Gawd, don't you know anything?

Yes true, but what I was trying to express is that Germany and Italy deserve more credit than those arrogant argies. And England could be considered the biggest underachiever nation, considering all the hype made on them before every single competition and their habit to quit much sooner.

Another good question is which is the best team that never won the World Cup?? The favourites would be Hungary 54, Holland 74 and Brazil 82

never talk that way about english three lions Mad
they're my most fave team Very Happy

the azzurri is a good team.. but they can't really deal with penalties and sometimes they play very defensive football.. yeah.. they do the tactic of counter attack.. but still quite boring to watch.. meh.. lol..

erm.. i wasn't born yet to witness hungray 54 or holland 74.. and brazil 82 [still a toddler] lol.. but to be honest.. the oranje team is supposed to win something with all the brilliant players playing abroad..

that way? which way? the truth?

and to be fair with Italy they havent played defensive for a long time. People are so used to say it that they dont even watch Italy matches. Last World Cup they played a beautiful and smart football and were worth the title, especially in that semi-final with Germany, cracking game. When they beated Scotland they also were quite offensive, considering they were playing away and that the draw would be a great result

come on gon.. it's not the truth..
they're not arrogant.. what makes you think so?..
they're trying to win matches.. they're trying to make things right.. but sometimes the media is too cruel.. a little mistake can just push them to doom.. especially the support for the manager.. no one would never be good enough for them.. i really hope capello can shut those crazy people up one day..

wait I think you got it wrong. when I said "those arrogant argies" I was referring to the argentinians, not to the english. Then I added the English being underachievers stuff, but I didnt called you guys arrogants. Even though some are, but in every places theres arrogant people
