Is that everyone plays everyone twice then? I like to watch these if i get a chance, apart from the europe qualifiers, i take an interest in these as well. I think they're entertaining as all the countries can cause upsets as any time, so no team is ruled out straight away, unlike other continents. Just look at Bolivia, so far they have one point, but if i remember rightly they did well in the latest copa america.

Yep, each team plays each other twice. One home, one away. Top 4 nations qualify for the World Cup, with the 5th place nation playing a playoff with CONCACAF for the final spot.

Yea got that. That's quite a few fixtures to get your head around there. I think as this continent's qualifers have the least teams it makes it easier to follow though, as they're all in the same group.

South America is definitely the easiest to understand. Single table, top 4 qualify. Can't get easier than that.

Some of the other ones are quite confusing till it gets to the later rounds. I actually had to study them before I posted the threads. Laughing

Paraguay dropped the ball against Bolivia (was at the bottom of the table) and lost a big opportunity to take a nice commanding leading up at the top of the table. Brazil has now dropped to the 5 spot and out of automatic qualification. Obviously there is still a long long way to go.

It's actually funny how Brazil always just manage to qualify to the World Cup with any coach and then have a decent chance to win the WC.

Anyone watching Colombia v Uruguay live on Setanta right now?

Uruguay are leading 1 - 0 at HT thanks to a goal from Eguren after about 15 minutes.

Following this game is Argentina v Paraguay - really looking forward to that one.

The second time in this qualifying group he's got sent off for a shocking challenge. He never really seems like a dirty player when he's playing for United. Very hard working & always challenging for the ball but never anything malicious.

Was very dissapointed with Aregntina. I think they have to play Agureo instead of Tevez because they need someone who's more of a target man & Tevez is not a target man. And at the back there just terrible, they really miss Ayala.

Paraguay are really doing well, top of the table and got an away draw against Argies which isn't easy.

Just to clarify, the 5th placed country go into a play-off against who?
