Hi Guys,

Well, I stumbled upon this forum as I looked for a(nother) distraction from what I was supposed to be doing. I'm in the middle of updating a large static web site for a company and it is really tedious. My fault, I didn't know about dynamic sites when I first built it. I digress.

In case you didn't guess, I am a vet Gooner with about 40years service. I have been through all the years of "boring, boring Arsenal" so I am really enjoying things the way they are now and I make no apologies for the odd moment of gloat.
I also went through the many years of going to cold, wet, February night games at Highbury, when there'd be 21,000 in a 61,000 capacity. Now I can only get a ticket if I pay to be on a waiting list.

I come from the East End of London. A mere goal kick away from the Boleyn ground, home of West Ham, yet have always been a Gooner. I have lot's to thank my old man for, God rest him, but being an Arsenal fan is top of the list.

I have looked at many a football forum but have never been moved to sign up as most threads always seem to degenerate into a slanging match. It appears there are real fans on here and while we all enjoy a bit of playful banter, it is good that Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Preston, Reading, etc, etc fans can have a debate.
I used to look at the official Liverpool forum quite a bit because their forum was like that also. The Scouse fans on there weren't upset at other fans coming in for a chat. I like that because at the end of the day, no matter which clubs we support, we are all football fans.
That said, if I do take abuse, I do bite back

Yeah I know Kingsland Road. I'm round the corner, just the other side of Boundary Road. I've also lived in North Woolwich and Silvertown so always been surrounded by West Ham fans.

That was the plan actually, we're thinking of heading out Rayleigh way. The trouble right now is, my Daughter is coming to the end of secondary so don't want to give her the unnecessary stress involved with changing schools. Having said that, we need to do it soon before her accent gets too Eastern European. It would break my heart seeing her at a set of traffic lights, cleaning windscreens.

GOBati, just have to say, Batistuta is one of the best strikers I have ever seen. I was at Wembley Stadium that night in the CL, when the Arsenal back 4 snuffed him out for most of the game. One chance he had, just one and how he buried it. Total class!!!

Final score Arsenal 0 Fiorentina 1 and the Gunners out of the CL again.
