According to Ameobi's agent, there is no deal accepted by Newcastle for his transfer to Ipswich...

Quote:

"As far as I'm concerned, Ipswich have not put a bid in for Shola.

"There has certainly been no dialogue from Newcastle to me to the effect of a bid has been submitted from any club.

"Our position is that we will be willing to talk to any club that puts a bid in to Newcastle that is acceptable."

Ameobi is an even poorer mans Carlton Cole. Which is a disgrace.

Who we need...

Centre back - Strong, fast and experienced to play with Faye, and nurture Taylor and get the best out of him.

Left back - Enrique has improved greatly this season. Someone to give him competition and make him fight for his place.

Creative midfielder - This would be my first move. With Emre gone and Barton in prison, we need someone like Riquelme, Van Der Vaart type player that can spread the play and create chances from nothing.

Right Wing - Milner has had an okay season but his crossing is shocking. Get someone in that can whip in a good ball and we will be cruising.

Left Wing - IF N'zogbia goes we need a left wing as Duff hasnt showed any glimpses of his Chelsea form in the 2/3 seasons he has been here. If Charlie stays, we are fine.

Striker - Gomis and Zigic have been linked. We need someone like this that can play Viduka's role as his legs are getting weary now. Zigic would be a great signing imo, brilliant record.

Some people have said in this thread that we need two new full backs urgently. I disagree. I go to watch Newcastle every home game, and Habib Beye has been on fantastic form. He is definitely up there in the top 3 right backs in the PL and won Player of the season for us, which shows how good he must of been with the likes of Owen, Butt and Harper all performing brilliantly!

Hey,
The only reason people (including me) have asked for two full backs is because we only have two full backs in our squad. We need back up. I would never dream of dropping Beye but what if he gets injured? we have no back up at all.

Geremi i suppose is back up for Beye, but it's not ideal. Also the young Edgar can play there.

i don't class that as back up. I think its a waste of time Edgar playing right back when we could just get a proper out and out right back. I'm not saying Edgar isn't good enough but he is young and if he has hard time it could effect him as a player. Geremi isn't good enough.

But what good right back is going to come to Newcastle knowing that he is only being used as cover to Beye? At least now if Beye gets injured, we can bring in some of the younger lads (Kadar, Edgar etc) and see what they are like. If not, then Taylor has played there on a few occasions.

I would never think of playing our best centre back at right back. What would the point in that be? Look at the better teams, they all have strength in depth. If we are gonna improve we need to have the same thing.

I completely agree with you mate.

Im just saying that atm, right back is the only position that i have full confidence in. By all means if we can get a good right back as cover bring him in, but i dont think any good right backs would come here to be on the bench unless they are young, and we already have a few good youngsters.

Also, I think Faye has been more solid than Taylor this season. I was a bit cautious at the signing of Faye but he has definitely proved his worth and looks really solid. Taylor is one for the future, but atm makes too many mistakes for my liking. 2 seasons time, with the right partner, he will be Englands best CB.

I think that's pushing it. From what i've seen he has been average/poor over the last season.

Taylor has a LONG, LONG way to go. I'm really glad we didn't sign him when we were linked with him.

Micah Richards will be a lot better than Taylor.

Taylor doesn't have a long long way to go. He's already established himself as a key player for us in the heart of defence. Already at his young age he has shown great leadership qualities and looks like he's been in the game for ages.

On the transfer note, another player is being linked with leaving, young Andy Carroll this time. I hope we don't sell him. He's a good little player and after a few years he could be something good.

If we are to keep selling then we need to start filling in the holes and start buying.

Well Shola rejected Ipswich because he is holding out for a move in the EPL Laughing Laughing Laughing

This morning we are linked with a move for Zenit St Petersburg playmaker Andrei Arshavin. I don't have a clue if there is any truth in this. I'm gettin sick of the odd bit of gossip we hear, i think its about time we start landing these people and not just being linked with them.

Arshavin is a brilliant player if you can land him that's a major coup.

Indeed it would, he is a magnificent player. He will be surely available also because he is 27 now i believe and its now or never for him if e wants to make an impression in one of Europes big leagues.
