Great news, best thing i've heard all day. I had a feeling he would'nt be leaving this summer, not until he wants to actually leave the club. Right now he's commited to the club, which is all too good for us. Now need to find him a good centre back to work with.

I keep reading that they are after Gokhan Inler from Switzerland and I think that could be a very good signing for them. Looked quaity for the Swiss.

I was just reading about that. Meant to cost us around 4million. You can never tell how any Newcastle player will be, but i think it could be worth a risk. Not sure if there is any truth in these reports though.

They still look like a mid level club.
Martins won't be there if Newcastle let him go and that's major. N'zogbia should be leaving also if he's smart ,because he should never be on the bench looking at that squad. That's is all of your creativity gone in the blink of an eye as no one else on that team at midfield have an ounce of creativity.

They can sign all the forwards they want ,but who's going to get them the ball?
Newcastle need to concentrate on that position first and foremost ,and the lack of players in that position linked with the club leads me to believe they don't know what they're doing.

Do you know why N'Zogbia was on the bench? We have just bought a winger, not a forward and you are in love with Martins and your love for him is making you think he is better then he is. I have said many times that things are not looking good for the club, you are not making much of a statement here. However, there is still time for keegan to get a few more players in. If he doesn't buy anymore players untill then end of the transfer window we are in deep trouble but there is still time. Personally i am only really looking at a top 10 place next year anyway. It will take more then one summer to fix this club. I'm sure you agree with this so i think its a bit early to say they don't know what they are doing.

Defence is the place you need to look at. It got better towards the end of the year and I guess you can't keep signing defenders hoping they are good.
Look at Boumsong, former Newcastle player who wasn't the most assured on the ball in the premiership, yet he turns out for France in the Euro. What gives?

Owen and Martins up front is great as first choice, but need cover if none already. Inler is a good creative player who would fit in and a realistic option for a club like Newcastle. Offense intended. Twisted Evil

A wealthy construction company run by the family of terrorist Osama bin Laden has emerged as a front-runner to buy Newcastle United. (Mail on Sunday)

couple of things .
The reason i wouldn't spend on defense right now is because like you said the seemed to get it together and at times looked really good.
Midfield is the place they need help ,because most players who started playing football as kid always knew how to put the ball away. The midfielder is important because he is the one player who ties the back to the front. Good service from the middle of the park changes a team in a massive way.
Just putting one creative genius in the middle could change a mid level team to a euro challenger.

Owen and Martins are too much alike to be playing at the same time,Both are short as f*ck so you eliminate the ariel dimension from the start, that limits them and helps the opposing defense in terms of marking. In which case Oba has [proven a better player than owen playing alone against the defense ,but the problem is the service.

You are correct with most of the things you say there, but i'm shocked. Martins number one fan does know that one of Martins better attributes is that he can out jump many defenders. Even though he is really short he can score headers and challenge defenders in the air. You should know this.

You could have 2 vertically challenged people playing upfront, but if they can out jump the defenders, it doesnt matter. Or if its a problem you just keep it on the ground and watch the defenders try catch them.

Arsenal went the whole season unbeaten without having a single person who could win a header who wasn't a centre back.

Barcelona have zero aerial threat but they are arguably the best attacking side in the world.

Newcastle are said to be interested in Steve Sidwell. We have made an attempt to sign him before Villa. I personally would not want him to come here. IMO he is not worth 5.5million. He would have been a good buy on a free last year but i don't see us paying 5.5million for him.

Sidwell...

Where's the ambition?!

I was hoping to see the likes of Modric, Moutinho, Guiza, Farfan etc. playing for the Toon next season.

Any idea how much money you really have to spend?

I wouldn't pay that for him in all honesty, but you will be getting a very decent player with Steve, if he gets a prolonged, sustained run in the team to show how he can control a Midfield.

I dont have a clue. The owner has yet again said that he has no interest in selling the club. The only way he will get the fans on his side again is to invest more money. To be honest, not a great lot were behind him before the talk of selling the club came out. Hopefully this will push him towards investment.

Was hoping you would comment on the rumour.
I was quite impressed with him before he went to Chelsea and i would have been happy with the free transfer, if he didn't reject us. However, i don't know where Chelsea have got their asking price from. They hardly play the lad and they got him on a free, plus it's not like they need the money.
One of the most important signings keegan HAS to make in the summer is a creative/attacking midfielder. This was what we lacked last season and the main reason we changed formation. If we do not get a major signing in this position i cannot see us getting into the top 10. Due to this reason i would not be too pleased if keegan thought that Sidwell was the man to do the job. Its not like i expect us to go out and get Riquelme, but i would like to think we can still attract bigger names than Sidwell. Who says that Sidwell would be interested in us anyways, if Villa have made a bid i would expect he would rather go there.

Nah Sidwell is not the player to be included in a specific attacking, creative role. He's very much more your box to box, hardworking, battling Midfield player. It would be hilarious if you signed him as an attacking Midfielder! So in that sense, of course you should be able to attract a better standard and name of an attacking Midfielder, because he isn't one.

I think he's off to Villa anyway.

I like Sidwell personally.
