Well you have been linked with Bale Ben, and there are rumours Rafa isn't sure whether Riera will settle in and have an impact. |

I still think Bale will replace Dossena if he doesn't settle. Riera will be fine.

Maybe but Bale is not the best defensively. He akways seems to be drawn infield when defending leaving their wingers one on one with our left mid.

He is young and he can learn. Rafa loves a good defensive player, so if he was to join, I think he would improve as a player and prove to be a good signing. Cant see it happening though. Would like it to, but see it as unlikely.
Where did you get this info about Rafa not being happy with Reira? Iv not heard of anything. |

I read about it a couple of days ago, i cant remember exactly where it was but i think it was people saying it because you were linked with Bale. They saw you were linked with Bale and assmued it was because Rafa wasn't happy with Riera. I cant see him being unhappy with Riera yet. He hasn't done anything wrong.

If it was for anyone it would be Dossena. I didnt really have high hopes for him when we signed him, but saying that, he hasnt matched the level I had hoped. At this stage I would rather have Riise than Dossena. But still early days.

I'm certain the Riera stuff is nonsense.
He's been here 26 days and played 3 games (2 starts, 1 sub), played reasonably well and looked technically one of our best players easily. For Rafa to write him off after that, well ... "surreal" would not be the word. |

Yeah i think its people reading that your interested and trying to make up a good story to go with it, as if true that would be a rather strange decision. |

If it were the case, and Riera was that unbelievably woeful, i would suggest we sack our scouts.
I don't really believe the Bale rumour though anyway. I don't really believe any rumours this soon after the window has closed. He'd be good at left-back though. I've always been impressed with him driving forward and that's something we're looking for at the full-back positions. If his defensive positioning is dodgy i'm sure Rafa or, more importantly, First Team Coach and former-Valencia centre-back Pellegrino could teach him at his very young age. But yeah, i'm not sure i believe it. I don't think we'd sell Aurelio because Rafa tends to use him whenever fit, and selling a player after just 6 months when they've cost a fair amount (respective of position) isn't something Rafa tends to do. I can't remember him doing it anyway. I'd think Dossena would have to be dreadful for him to sell so early. |

Well i've been talking to my mate whos parents are good mates with Bale's and he said that his parents were on holidays with Bales parents and one of their scouts was there to try and talk to Bale's parents about a possible move, he said they were thinking about making a bid. Im assuming they couldn't afford the money we offered after buying Torres.
As my friends family is close to Bale's family, he is going to watch the Spurs v Hull game from Bale's own box. What a lucky so and so |

Dossena has only played a few games
remember the first few games for evra and how he changed! 2nd best leftback in the league after cliche |

Anil Ambani ?? |

Came across this paper headline today
"THE PEOPLE • Indian billionaire Anil Ambani is set to launch a £550m swoop for Liverpool." paper talk or what , anyone ?? |

Apparently, he wants to buy out Hicks. Im not so sure there is much in it. And if there was truth in it, how well would he and Gillet work together? Could just replace one problem with another?

I read he is the 6th richest person in the world and his net-worth would make him twice as rich as both Abramovich and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum.
Personally i would prefer the Sheikh on the basis that he is an alleged Liverpool supporter and am still hoping although DIC are some way away from bidding for us that he will use his personal fortune to buy the club. No-one will compete with Man City money-wise so, first and foremost, i would want someone who will run the club correctly and he, although we can never truly know, seems the best bet. |

Real Madrid have reportedly came out saying that Agger is their top target for the January transfer window.
Benitez has moved to say he is definitely not for sale, and Agger himself has recently spoken of his desire to stay. I really hope he does stay. We need to play him more though else his thinking may change. |
||||||||
|
|
|||||||||

Let him go. Skrtel is a much better partner for Carragher in my opinion. Agger doesn't deserve to rot at a big club at this stage in his career, he needs to be playing every week instead of being exploited by an ever-changing rotation policy.

true. it's the reason you're doing so well this season. what i'm getting at is that since he's been a the club, Agger has been one of the main victims of Benitez' notorious tinkering. I know he had his injuries last year, but Skrtel is just a more complete defender and a better partner for Carragher who will obviously never lose his place unless he gets seriously injured. Agger should be allowed to move on if Real come in for him, but who can blame him if he's willing to sit on the bench every week and still get paid? |

It makes me laugh when the media come out with lines like "X player is a victim of rotation", like with Crouch last year. Erm, no, if we didn't rotate the player wouldn't play at all! (In the case of Crouch, as an example, anyhow.)
What are you going on about Fratboy? The seasons barely started - and as it began, he was in the first eleven. He had a very poor game against Standard Liege and had a small injury which allowed Skrtel to play, and he and Carragher have not let Agger back in due to their own form. He has to fight for his place. Its not like we're letting the man rot in the reserves or whatever. Skrtel and Agger both have absolutely huge future's at Liverpool. I see no reason why we would want to simply "let go" one of our brightest players. The partnership of he and the Slovak, considering their styles, is perfect - something that will be at the heart of our side in coming seasons. Its going to be tricky ousting Carragher from the scene though. On another note, why would Real Madrid really want him, and why would he join them if he's unhappy at not playing for Liverpool? On Madrid's books they have Ramos, Cannavaro, Pepe, Heinze, Metzelder and Garay all who can play centre-back, 4 of which are distinctly assigned to that position. The signing of Garay in the summer particularly would make signing Agger a peculiar one, and he'd certainly have much more competition for places than he does currently at Liverpool. |
||||||||
|
|
|||||||||
|
You say Skrtel and Agger both have 'absolutely huge futures' at Liverpool. They're both centrebacks. Carragher, with his work-rate and dependability, has at least 5/6 years left in him, maybe more. Hyypia doesn't have much left in him but can still do a decent job.
Liverpool have shown early on this season that they have become the most reliable they've been in AGES with Carragher and Skrtel at the back, so what good is it having Agger on the sidelines even when he's fit? |
