I'd like to hear why Rafa started that lineup, no Gerrard, Cisse or Riise. He looked to be a genius after 16 minutes with Liverpool going up 2-0. But they had to scramble to hang-on. Betis really had nothing and there midfield was non-existent. Hyypia appears sometimes to be an accident waiting to happen. Yes, in the end it's a good away win.

Real Madrid match was... shocking. We had deffensive troubles (as usual), but we didn't deserve that 3-0, in 3 shots. Casillas stopped a penalty (which in fact shouldn't have been penalty) and Baptista shot to sticks.
It's obvious that Real is not the same team without Ronaldo and Zidane Confused

It's obvious that Real is not the same team without Ronaldo and Zidane Confused

It is not because Zidane and Ronaldo weren't in. Real Madrid died since they let Makelele go away.
Even here in japan, reporters kept on saying that it is sad that players like Zidane, Ronaldo got the credits all the time where Makelele did all the work.
Since Makele left, Real didnt win any title; I can rest my case.
To fill the hole left by Makelele, you need players like Steve Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Michael Essein or Michael Ballack.

You shouldnt be shocked because Lyon is one of the greatest Clubs in Europe. Too sad, they have lost Essein.

I don't think you need to mention Makelele to our friend Raul, him and I have had a couple of discussions (see previous posts) about this and we decided that we said about all we could say. Also, I'm afraid the players you mention to fill his spot, Gerrard, Lampard, Essien and Ballack are still not the type of player Makelele is, I'm not talking about there ability or comparing one to another., I'm just saying Makelele is a stay at home defesive type midfielder where those you mentioned all have offesive aspects to there game that makes them go forward.

And you are correct, Lyon is a quality side even without Essien.......

I cant wait to find those posts.
When Real agreed to let Makelele, I bet with my friends that was a very bad move for Real. At first, they didnt believe me, but now the results speak of themselves.

I agree when you say all the players I have mentionned above tend to be more offensive. And, if I am not mistaking Makelele scored only one goal last season( well, they made him score Idea ) while the others scored a lot of goals. But I do believe they have the same style where Makelele chooses to feed his partners instead of trying to score.
If Real Madrid can sign any those players, they will be back on the track.( Oops, I forgot to mention Vieira)

So for you, which player you think Real should sign to resolve this problem?

oranjepalooza, I have found the posts on Football Forum --> European --> Raul.. not on the ball.
Since we share the same view on Makelele, no need to argue with you:P . Thanks!

Yes, No need to make more comments to Raul about Makelele, it's been discussed thoroughly and we both have agreed to disagree, which is OK.

Secondly, I don't want to argue with anyone, discuss yes. I realize others have an opinion and if it doesn't agree with mine, that is fine, I'll state my view(s) and let it go.

Now, as far as who Real should sign out of those you mentioned, Vieira in my opinion would have been a perfect fit. I don't see that happening now, I don't know why Real didn't get involved when they found out that he may be leaving Arsenal. I think they feel that Thomas Gravesen can get the job done. He's a fine player, I have seen him play and I was impressed, but he's a level down from Makelele. At this point, I think Real will just attempt to try and sort things out for now with possibly a signing later in the season, if at all.

Real has some great players, but they currently are not a great team. Great players don't always add up to a great team....

First of all, neither I wanna argue, but discuss (wise words orangepalooza). Thank you for trying to stop that Makelele thing. All I want to say is that some people are treating him like he was the best or something Confused Ok, he was important, but it's not the end of the world, so many teams are working right without Makelele. And you can say that without Makelele we didn't win any cup (which is not totally right) but I have to say that it's not only without Makelele. We lost Vicente del Bosque (for me the main reason) and Fernando Hierro the same year.

I don't understand why you're comparing Gerrard, Ballack and Lampard's job with Makelele's one! It's totally different. But I'm gonna leave this Makelele thing, I promise Laughing I think it's not matter of players, like orangepalooza said. it's matter of making a team with these players.
