I've gotta credit your boys Bluey for winning this leg and making it such a close contest. I didn't give them much of a chance, and i thought at best they would be able to win by 1 goal. I thought Fiorentina would score though and it would effectively end the tie.

Sounds like your boys did a really good job and achieved far more than i expected.

i predicted Fiorentina would go through after the draw, but after that first leg result i was 99% sure. it turns out Everton almost pulled it off in the second leg though and i was only proven right on a technicality (penalty shootout).

i suppose you guys will better concentrate on denying Liverpool that 4th spot now, right Bluey?

Full credit to Everton tonight, they played football the english way by absolutely destroying them and deserved everything and more, like Neville said they deserved to win 3 games with the chances they created tonight, they were absolutely superb and every fan should be so proud that they gave it their all

It's sickening but that's football unfortunately, like United found out last saturday, not everyone gets what they deserve Very Happy

Fiorentina didn't know what had hit them tonight Laughing

Unlucky bluey mate,i'm so dying to laugh and take the mick, but you deserved to progress after tonights effort so i'll hold back for 10 mins Very Happy

I'd like to remind everyone that the game was played for 180 minutes, over two legs. Everton deserved to win on the night, but then Fiorentina deserved to win the other week... Both teams could've won it outright in their respective home ties, but didn't. It went to penalties and that's the way it goes.

Impressive performance by Everton indeed. Wonderful atmosphere as usual for english stadiums, italian commentators have had to shout in the mic to overcome the voices of Everton supporters.

Congrats to Fiorentina for going through. It was the first time for most of those guys in an english stadium and like Roma against Manchester they were like paralyzed. They've been smart and lucky to resist to the pressure of the players on the pitch and of the incredible support Everton had last night.

English clubs at home seems really a force, we're lucky they don't play the same abroad!

Laughing Key word there was "almost" Razz

On the game though, I got home just in time for extra time, and my friend from Florence called me flipping a sh!t! He stayed on the phone until they won, so now he probably has a $500 bill running. Laughing

Wasn't expecting that kind of performance at all from Everton after I watched the replay. Definitely showed heart especially after being down 2-0... They knew it was gonna be a daunting task especially since Fiorentina is a solid team, but Everton were damn sure up to it. Players showed a lot of character and deserve a lot of credit for fighting the way they did.

Bluey, now you know what it's like to play against the big boys in Europe. Liverpool know all about that, and sometimes it can be heart breaking.

I second that. I didn't see any of this game but by the sounds of it Bluey you were very unlucky. The good thing is that you can now put all of your energy and resources into securing a top four finish, whilst Liverpool have a big eye on the Champions' League.

Looking back over the two legs i think both teams were unlucky, Fiorentina bossed the first leg and should have scored a hat full, And Everton were the better team by miles in the return leg and also should have score a few more than they did.

But if i'm honest ( and no doubt Bluenose will shoot me down) as much as Everton has improved this season i still think Champions League football would be a step to far for them ( and Fiorentina ) at the moment, and i think they would struggle, i think they need aother season or two of UEFA CUP football to make that step up.

Shame about the pen's , it's a crap way to decide a game.

I don't. I've always loved them. They're dramatic.
