Well, after Oliver Kahn retiring at the end of the season, there is Michael Ballack left as an active "world class" player.
But there may be a new player rising: Mario Gomez (22) from VfB Stuttgart.

He was voted best player of the bundesliga last season and has another great season again.
AC Milan, Juventus and other have already interest, but he says atm he wont go into seriaA and his favorite club is barcelona.

I think he has what it takes to become one world class player (forward).
By looking at his movements in game, he reminds me a bit on van nistelrooy. I am curious to see where his way is going to in the future Smile

Any htoughts of him here?

I always thought GOMEZ looks bulky, but there is no success like success....

the guy's a bomb and he is tipped to go to England soon. Stuttagrt won't be able to afford him no longer.

The greatest German talent though is BAyern Munich's Toni Kroos: they've reserved the No10 shirt for him....the guy's brilliant

Mario Gomez is a stone-cold goalgetter. He have a fantastic instinct and keeps almost cool if he had a chance to shot a goal. A very fantastic goalgetter, really great.

And what do you mean with: "(...) there is Michael Ballack left as an active 'world class' player." ? Shocked
What is with Miroslav Klose, Torsten Frings, Per Mertesacker and so on ?
I think they are world-class too, although they still play in the german league.

The next big superstar of Germany could well be one of the young goalkeepers currently making a name for themselves .

With Kahn retiring , LehMan Unable to get first team football , Hildebrand would seem to have the goalie's shirt locked up for the next 5 years .

But I've got a feeling that one of the young generation , probably Adler or Neuer , will come through and grab the shirt for themselves .

Adler will be the new no.1 in the national team in the future. I don't have any doubts.

Toni Kroos, 18-year-old midfielder is considered Germany's biggest talent. If he keeps developing like this, he's gonna be the next Matthäus or Figo.

Mario Gomez is already a star. 25 goals in 30 matches speak for themselves. We'll probably see him at Real or Barca within the next few seasons.

Kroos is a fantastic young player, I can't wait to see him next year for Bayern, he's definitely one of the top teenagers in world football.

What about marko marin? what i have seen on a certain video site he looks to be an excellent prospect indeed, looks like he has a lot in his locker - 2 good feet, good control, abililty to run with ball at pace, good freekicks - but this is only what i have seen online.. Any views on him??

I think Kroos is gonna be a fantastic player in a few years time looks special the kid does - but then again that was also said about deisler and schweinsteiger and also podolski - deisler retired due to mental problems, podolski is a nut job - bad temperament and schweinsteiger also seems to have a bad attitude!!

So no one here with any views on marko marin and what he could be like in a season or two???
I would really like to know what others think. I have a german friend who supports borrusia moenchengladbach - and he reckons that this kid is gonna be a star - but he is a bit biased as he thinks his team is great anyways Laughing Laughing

I do not think Ballack can be the next one. During the Euro he looked ok, but as good as he used to be.

Right now I am on the lookout for the next great keeper as I am certain every youngster out there is busting their ass to make a name.

I think he has the ability to be a star. I`ve watched him a couple times on telly, and he looks great. Gomez also could be a star, but apart from Marin, I honestly don`t see a proper midfielder and Germany needs that.

The next german star?
