Beckham made his league Debut in 1995.
Just how much do you know about United?

Fergusson took over at United in 1986?

Paul Ince for a start was brought in by Fergusson in 1989. He also bought Schmeichel in 1991 - which has to go down as one of the best transfers ever. Without Schmeichel - maybe they wouldnt have been so dominating. Cantona was also brought in my Fergie, as was Pallister, Keane, Andy Cole, Sheringham, Solskjaer, Yorke, Kanchelskis, Irwin etc.

So for a crap manager, he seemed to have an eye for talent.

Gary Neville, Scholes, Phil Neville etc didnt get into the first team playing regular footy until 1994/95.....

So how do you explain them winning this before hand?

1993-94 FA Carling Premiership Champions / FA Cup Winners
1992-93 FA Carling Premiership Champions
1991-92 Division One runners-up / League Cup Winners
1990-91 European Cup Winners Cup Winners
1989-90 FA Cup Winners

And if he was that poor a manager - how come he was extremely successful at Aberdeen before United?

I think you need to brush up on your trivia before bad mouthing living legends!

I didn't say they were playing I said they were some of the younger players he had on offer! They actually won the FA youth cup that year.
Eye for talent maybe, but he had the money to eye it up with.

So why couldnt the likes of Ron Atkinson before Fergie do the same thing then if anyone could do it?

And yes they had good youth coming through - but by that time, they had already built a team that were winning things? So are you now saying United bought their way to the title between 92-94? Remember I have been a life long fan, and I remember the non so great times also!

And you still haven't touched on his honours at Aberdeen yet Smile

Your always going to be fighting a losing battle as the history books say it all.

Aberdeen had a great youth team Rolling Eyes
I still think most his success came from the youth and yes he bought good players but isn't that usually down to scouts to advise the manager on players?
They didn't buy the league but they definately had a fair amount cash and splashed out during the nineties.
And if he is so great, what has happened? Why aren't you winning things? Where are all these great signings now and why did he ever sell Beckham?

Why are they not winning things?
Maybe it has something to do with the phenomina that is Chelsea??
Arsenal are also an amazing team and the quality of the whole league has improved.

And they lost on penalites in the final of the FA Cup last year and won the FA Cup the year before. Fergie has also masterminded games against both Chelsea and Arsenal in the past couple of seasons, when no other teams have been able to make the break through.

Fergies record speaks for itself. Name another manager in the world today that can compare? I dont think there is one.

I think your a very naive person to think that anyone could have done what he acheived. But it is your opinion and that is fair enough. I suppose he has had over 15 years of luck. I wish I was as lucky Smile

haha. Yeah his record is good and it's not all luck but he definately fell into that job at the right time!
Surely you should be as good as Arsenal though. Now there's a buy, Thierry Henry!

If you look at the table - we are above Arsenal?
I would say we are as good to be honest.

I think they are coming back on form now though.
I don't think of Man Utd as a dominant force in English football anymore. Their history is awesome, but looking to the present and future I don't know which way they are headed?

They are not the dominant force in English football - you are right. But that is because of the freak that is Chelsea. They are a freak team in the world of football. As for which way United is heading, this January will be a vital time to the future of the club in my opinion.

Arsenal and United will be in the trail of Chelsea for years to come I think.

Well Man Utd had their go, Arsenal had a bit of fun and now it's the turn of Chelsea is how I see it.

I think this should be locked aswell then since we are on about people being offended. Thanks. I'm sure this one like the other England one was meant tongue in cheek but funnily enough nobody seen wrong in it when the forum was less conservative but now that you can't have banter and a heated discussion I think it should be locked. I am deeply offended Crying or Very sad

This post may not have had another post in it, had you not spent time to look through the forum for something else to stir it up. People are allowed opinions, however when the conversation starts turning into offensive insults and abuse, then that is when Mods/Admin will step in. Im pretty dissapointed in both of you for bringing this up - as I asked for people to approach me if there were any further problems.

Locking.
