So we could, good player but do we really need him? Is he better than Barton? Will he play right winger or right back? Pardew will have some decitions to make if we get him.

The question is not whether Seb Larsson is better than Barton, but is he better than Routledge or possibly Jonas?

That's just it, Larsson is very similar to Barton, just like Barton - Larsson isn't very fast and will pass the ball instead of getting past the defender. He's waaayyyy better than Jonas and Routledge on crosses though.

Gosling, Barton, Nolan, Tioté, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Routledge and possibly Larsson.... I can see a selection headache coming up for Pardew when everyone is fit.

Routledge would be worth keeping if his final ball was to improve he`s too wayward as it is.
Jonas is injured I believe. Gosling may play sometime soon although Laarson would give us extra cover. Wink

Yes when you name them all it does look like a selection headache and that's not including Smith or young Haris Vuckic in the mix. Mind you come the summer I reckon Jonas may be on his way, just because of his wages if nowt else. Nolan is increasingly coming under pressure to keep his place although he does have the knack of scoring goals so we may see more of the funky chicken for a while yet. Eight players who can play wide or in midfield may appear to be a lot, however as we have seen pick up a couple of serious injuries and it can look the opposite. There's a widely held view that the squad should contain at least one first teamer and cover in each position. Not convinced myself we have that in the 25 named for our squad currently, but don't believe Larsson would be a bad buy should he come to us, well I certainly would hope so!

Will only really believe it when the lad runs out on the park in a Black & White shirt.

SEB LARSSON played tonight for Birmingham, so thats it then do not think he will becoming to us now. Thoughts!! Looks like he just wanted the money and not the club.

Carling Cup game Polly so don't believe it has any bearing on whether he comes to the Toon or not.

Thought he had a decent game until the off the ball incident...........................

Good cross for the equalising goal.
