I think it will be denied, resulting in Tioté getting a two match ban instead of one.

Ah, you're right of course... anyhow the ban would be prolonged if the appeal is denied I think.

Yep you're right guys,

IF the appeal is turned down he could end up with a four match ban (3 for the card and 1 for having the audacity to appeal)!!!! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Whole heartedly agree that he will be a big loss.... even more so when Smith will take his place.

Surely Pardew will start with Guthrie and not Smith.

Everyone must be telling him that the young lad played well when he came back from injury last season.

And Pardew MUST have seen enough of Smith to know what 42,000 Geordies already know.

(Er, plus the 20%, (ie 10,000) that are staying away from St. James's until Ashley and Liambias have moved on! )

Could have played Guthrie (and young Ferguson) against Stevenage but chose Smith & Tiote (who was supposed to be carrying an injury)

Says it all really............ Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I don't know if Liverpool are appealing Gerrad's red card from Sunday against Manure, but that will be interesting to see how it goes, if they do, as the tackle was almost identical to Tiotes.

I would also point out that I believe that both tackles deserved red cards and that for me, Tiote, whilst being an incredible talent with a great future is "cardwise" as great a liability as our friend Smudger.

yes he pic's up a yellow nearly every game. which means ban every five games. But i still like him to play every game he is eligible for.

Tiote is far more involved in the game and contributes a hell of a lot more to the side than Smudgie.

Yes he appears to be picking up a lot of cards, but that is as much down to individual referees than some of the actual tackles he puts in. The one at Stevenage was dangerous even though he could possibly be partly excused as he won the ball despite their player making plenty of it. Thought it was a yellow myself but not that surprised Marriner sent him off as he is not exactly one of our favourite refs. More absorbed with himself being the centre of attention on TV than controlling the game properly.

Still having our best defensive midfielder out for three games again shows how poor the squad is. As for playing Danny G in midfield come Sunday, IMO only as a complete last resort, but will not be totally surprised to see him run out onto the pitch.
