i am SOOOO excited about 2moro!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

im going to the Arsenal vs frankfurt match and its gonna be ace. i mean there's half the england team playing for Arsenal and half the german team playing for frankfurt...... however i assure you i will probably be screaming "down with the germans" every 5 minutes Rolling Eyes

anyone else going??

i'll write up a bit of match report 'thru my eyes' when i get back from london (although it may be SLIGHTLY biased in favour of Arsenal and will probably involve some slagging off of the germans and the referee!)

and if Arsenal somehow lose then i may be inconsolable and therefore unable to type Crying or Very sad Rolling Eyes

but thats not gonna happen........... i hope Confused

just got back from london!!!

it was ace!!

althought i thought we deserved to win 2-1.... not that im at all biased Rolling Eyes

anyway i spent the match rotating my chants of:

'come on Arsenal'
'down with the germans'
'referee you're crap'
'how much did you pay the referee frankfurt?'
'why the hell have we got a french referee, everyone knows the french hate us'
'come on kelly/faye/rach/alex etc'

there was hardly anyone making as much noise as i was, im proud to say, and my banner was held high!!

the ref was rubbish, gave us about 2 decisions all match, at which point the crowd would cheer extremely sarcastically!

birgit prinz kept on trying to injure our players and lingor (i think it was her) was being a right drama queen and screaming in pain anytime anyone went near her (then ran back on the pitch as right as rain) Mad

the girls played well tho and dug really deep and just kept on running. they were all fab, esp kelly, mary, yanks, lianne & alex. love em!!

and in her usual style kelly was getting a tad bit stressed and resorted to what looked like rugby tackling the germans at every opportunity and mouthing off at the ref (which got her booked). i love it!! god knows how she didnt get sent off but im not complaining! altho she appeared remarkably calmer after the match!!

the ref was rubbish (have i mentioned that????). she gave frankfurt loads of free kicks when we hardly touched them, yet she let their players assault ours!!!! bloody french.

i considered getting birgit prinz's autograph (as seen as she is world womens footballer of the year, or whatever it is) but then decided that i wouldn't cos she's german and we didn't beat them....... and i don't even want it anyway... 'down with the germans!'

i've now nearly lost my voice from screaming so much abuse at the germans and the referee (but managed to have enuf of it left to talk to kelly after the match) Very Happy

im totally knackered from getting up at 7am and travelling all day.... but it was definitely worth it!!

so i'll be attached to my laptop next week, desperately trying to find out the 2nd leg score, listening to radio 5 live in the hope that they might actually mention the match and i'll probably be stressing myself senseless!!!

come on Arsenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good luck for next week!!!!!!!

I too was at the game just about got their with minutes to spare after I over slept. I'm not much for the french think there a nation of whingers so it didn't surprise me with the ref, english teams always get the raw deal espcially when it's germany as they would prefer to see them go through but I'm not saying the ref was doing anything along those lines. It was a good game but my heart was in my mouth after Kelly got booked as she is one player you dont want to lose espcially as we dont have fleets back yet. Thought byrne did good in goal and what a shame for sanderon who could of given us the edge in the latter stages of the game. Lets hope the girls do good in germany I know they'll give it there all , but I expect the germans will try and cheat they way to a win if things aren't gpoing there way.

oops!!!! i left out possibly the most important bit of info there!!!!!

it was 1-1.

lianne sanderson scored for us

xx

and yeah im no angel in the stands at a footy match Very Happy in was giving the ref sooooooo much abuse!!

i'm really nervous about last week but after seeing them play i think we can do it. kinda depends on a few things.............. like whther the ref is french or not for example!!!! (seriously she was rubbish. i was like the only person shouting anything in the first half but in the 2nd half everyone got so annoyed by the ref that men and women of all ages were having a go at her)

so i hope we win next week, im thinking 1-2 (agg 2-3)

fingers and toes and everything else crossed!!

I am lucky enough to have Kelly Smiths brother playing for my boyfs footy team and ive seen her down there twice this month.
I also know Lisa Burrows, who played Arsenal, think shes gone Fulham now though.

just seen on a website that faye white was stretchered off during the game, a twisted knee i think.

hope its not too serious and not long term. she's such a key player and it'll be awful to lose our captain, esp when the germans have injured her. Mad

gutted, hope she's ok

yeah!!! Laughing

come on Arsenal ladies!!!! Very Happy

they're playing charlton in the league on thurs... really wanted to go but what with it being an evening kick off i risk getting a train from london to bristol and then being stuck at bristol station for something like 7 hours, waiting for the early morning train to swansea. Sad

......and i'd have to miss a couple of days of uni Rolling Eyes

so i'm not going.

but hopefully the other fixture against charlton will be on a weekend, cos i'd love to see us beat them (and i kinda wanna see katie chapman play cos i think she's fab - am i allowed to say that as an Arsenal ladies fan??!! ...........as long as she doesn't hurt any of our players with her crunching tackling tho!)

i was brought up to support leeds utd as i was born in leeds but i can hardly call myself a real supporter anymore cos most of the time i don't have a clue whats going on!

since i moved to swansea for uni i haven't been able to go to any matches (apart from the odd one in the holidays) cos it sometimes takes upto 8 hours to get back up north on the train!

and since they dropped out of the premiership they're just not on tv anymore so i can't even see them on match of the day. (i guess i could watch the championship on a sunday morning but im usually not conscious at half 9am at the weekend!)

i still take an interest and love em to bits but my support is a bit limited cos of my location and the fact that they're in the championship now. i wish i could be as involved as i used to (i cried for like 3 hours when we got relegated!)

but now i go see Arsenal cos its easier to get to and they've got so many internationals that its amazing! (i always give a 'come on jayne, yeah wales yeah!' shout if she's playing!)

xx
