The Scottish Football Association has admitted there are no rules against build-up to Motherwell's controversial equaliser against Kilmarnock.
Killie general manager David Mackinnon has written to the SFA about the 86th-minute incident at Fir Park.
Well defender Stephen Craigan opened a gate between the advertising boards to allow a greater run-up for his throw.
"I have been advised that there is currently no rule to cover what happened," said Mackinnon.
Killie goalkeeper Alan Combe had fumbled the long throw into the net as the game headed for a draw that secured Well's place in the Scottish Premier League's top six.
The Rugby Park club insist they have no qualms with the result but were keen to highlight the incident for future reference.
"We do not have any issues with Motherwell or Stephen Craigan and realise that we cannot change or overturn the decision but feel that it requires further scrutiny or it could be exploited in the future," Mackinnon told his club's website.
"If the same thing took place at next weekend's Old Firm game then I am sure it would be looked at quickly.
"Drew Herbertson has always been open and helpful in answering questions on decisions and he has advised me that he will discuss our query at next month's referee's committee meeting."
