New Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton admitted the lure of the Premier League finally persuaded him to leave Rangers and head south.
The Scotland international full-back brought to an end a long-running transfer saga when he finally signed for Spurs on Wednesday in a deal which could net the Glasgow club as much as £9million.
Hutton had been expected to join the north London club earlier in the month only to change his mind at the last minute in favour of staying at Ibrox.
However, after Spurs launched a fresh bid at the beginning of this week, the 23-year-old finally decided to sever his ties with his boyhood club.
"What influenced my decision was a lot to do with coming down and meeting the head coach and hearing his plans for the club. That helped me make up my mind," he told the club's official website.
"Leaving Rangers was a decision I had to take time to think about and it was hard for me having grown up supporting the club as well as playing for them for many years.
"It was a hard decision but I think it's the right one overall.
"The Premier League is one of the best in the world and everybody knows that, so I think you have to take the step down here to show people what you've got.
"I think I've got good attributes in terms of getting forward and hopefully I can add them to the team."
