well we had a reserve team out really against Sunderland apart the odd few and we got a win in the end . Robin Van Persie was the star man with two goals , one a penalty which he blasted home unlike Robert Pires on saturday . I hope to see the highlights tonight on tv , but this a good performance from Van Persie and he may have a claim for a place against Tottenham at the weekend .

I think I must have missed the highlights Conn Sad and they're not on AFC online at the moment.

But nice to see RVP has a fan - and a Toon fan at that Very Happy

they only showed the goals in the end , but what a terrific shot by emmanuelle eboewe . The penalty was rifled into the top corner by Van Persie and a nice calm finish by him for the third .

Yes, Campbell was captain. I've just seen highlights on AFC Online, and Eboue's was a cracker, but RVP really whacked the penalty in too. No poncing around a la Pires Smile

Sunderland had a reserve team out too.

So this was more like a reserve game apparently.

Fantastic attendance for a reserve game Caz - even at the £5 a ticket you told me about Shocked

Most of the top teams usually play many reserves in the early rounds (well, with the exception of one side that's now out), but I always wonder about the 'lesser' teams where this may be there best shot at getting any silver. Why not play your strong side and see what happens? Confused

I totally agree there Mr O.
But maybe they thought the large crowd would be be helpful for players who had not previously experienced that Confused
