I rate Bentley, I'd take him at United as back up after we get a striker who can head the ball. He puts in some top quality crosses and always works good room for himself.

I don't see him going there as long as Rafa is at the helm. He left Arsenal due to his lack of playing time. Now he's telling Walcott to leave for his lack of playing time. With Rafa's rotation policy, don't think Bentley will be too happy with it.

Good point, but I would think Bentley would be first choice (picked for all the big games) so would get enough starts to be satisfied. He would also (probably) be playing Champs League football, which would appeal to his ambition.

It was a silly comment by papa5murf really - Bentley and Walcott are/were both young at Arsenal and aren't/weren't getting enough games to satisfy their development, and by that it means next to no games.

Bentley's older and capable of starting regularly for teams, and would get a lot of time playing for Liverpool if he joined. I'd rather have him as back-up for Babel and another player (who'd play as part of the 3-man attack and right-wing type player) mind. He's very good i think but i don't want to again be aiming to see us aiming too low and not have a first team to compete with Arsenal, United and Chelsea. Even if he did sign he'd still get a fair amount of matches, and, as d~wizzle said, could be playing Champions League football.

Bentley looked superb today from what i saw.

Again showing he's very capable with both his right and left foot.

It seems i'm not the only one who thinks he's of top 4 quality. Hansen thinks so too.

Bently was outstanding today.

The fact he couldn't get in an Arsenal side with Pires and Ljungberg when he was 19 or so and inexperienced is no reflection of him as a player today.I think Liverpool and Spurs should go all out for him.

Yes he is arrogant but he's no Quaresma in that respect I don't think. He walks the walk anyway.IMO he is a better player than Pennant and Lennon.More well rounded too.

THe Problem is Sticky and Kin at a bigger club the team wouldnt be built around him and he wouldnt be given the freedom to wander over the whole pitch.

You would seriously not get that type of performance from him at Liverpool. Ypu cant have your whole midfield wandering around the whole pitch, some have to keep in their position (especially under Rafa) and seeing as Gerrard already has a only limited licence to roam, Bentley in the same team wouldnt.

Hence you wouldnt see a performance like todays for you, because you have better players to build your team and attacking play around.

If he moves to a top four team this offseason I think he will do a Bellamy and end up at West Ham or Newcastle in 12 months.

If Liverpool plan on keeping and playing Crouch they should sign him. The reason Crouch never plays is because no one in a Liverpool shirt can cross, sign Bentley and you solve that problem. However if they plan on selling Crouch then Bentley is pointless and he's a bit slow for counterattacking and while Torres can head, that isn't his number one priority. I still think he'd be a good signing anyway for Liverpool but it makes a lot more sense with Crouch in the team.

As has been mentioned he's come on hugely since Arsenal and not many players could of pushed Pires and Ljungberg out of that team.

Spurs might pick him up too, but I've no idea how much tactical sense that will make because who knows what Spurs's team is going to look like next year. At Sevilla, Ramos tended to favour quick wingers as opposed to Bentley's style but that's probably more because Jesus Navas already played for the club.

That's always a possibility with anyone. There's always a risk. But swapping Bentley for Pennant plus a reasonable sum of money would be worth it in my opinion. Certainly a risk i'd be willing to take.

Besides, Bentley doesn't have to wonder all over the pitch to be effective.

True, if you are buying him to fulfill Pennants place in the squad that would be a good idea. Dont see Bentley going for it but a good idea for Liverpool nonetheless.

He would still be effective yes but you wouldnt see the type of impact he has on a game that he does for Blackburn which is why most people are rating him at the moment, not his actual qualities.

If we had Bentley instead of Lennon wed score alot more goals in my opinion. Berbatov would get alot more headed goals.

Pennant and Gerrard can cross, and Torres can score plenty from such crosses - using both foot and head as he showed against West Ham.

Rumours are rife recently that we'll be making a move for Bentley in the summer, and he's seemingly holding out for such a club to come in for him.

lol, Ronaldo is Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes above Bentley.

Yeah, Bentley is good but i don't think he's quite good enough to be a top 4 (team) player. His style of play would suit Tottenham or Man City... or (dare i say) Newcastle??

Bentley to Everton??? Would love to have him in our team!! Think he will get the games he wants with us rather than any of the top 4 teams. He may not get a taste of CL football for now if he signs with us, but at least he will get the next best thing..... the UEFA Cup!

But being English, am sure he is gonna cost a bomb. Easily over 8mil pounds I guess......

Quite a few rumours today. We are intrested in David Bentley. Because there were so many i think there may be something in this.

Its been rumoured that before Commoli was the one who wanted to bring Bentley to Spurs but Ramos wasnt convinced he had enough quality in getting past people. But now that he has seen Lennon, very good at going past people but has extremely poor delivery, Ramos has been convinced he is the type of player we need on our right of midfield; a player who can create more goals for the head of Berbatov.

Of course they are only rumours.

i dont see why he cant be as good as beckham. i have never been one of these people that are in love with beckham and believe he is so overrated. bentley on the other hand knows how to beat the left back and put in a great cross. never seen beckham take on the left back ever, unless the left back fell over. i think bentley would do a good job for Liverpool.

Bentley would do well at a club abroad.i don't think he'll get anything out of moving to a 'bigger club' in england because the top 4 aren't interested.

David Bentley
