Don't mention it.

Arsenal's best season in the CL was when they changed their formation and went more defensive. Coincidence? I think not.

Let's hope the Red Army are marching proud once again in Moscow eh?

I, like the majority of people (even Man U fans) disagree with that. Scholes isn't as good as he once was, and i for Gerrard is quite clearly better than him now. Mentally Scholes would be well ahead of him in that Man U team, but that hasn't stopped Anderson leaving Scholes on the bench for a lot of this season.

Let's not forgot as well that Man U often play with 3 central midfielders. Gerrard would easily get in there.v

I don't care, though, it's never going to happen, and most people would say Gerrard is far superior to anyone you have in the centre.

Wrong

Aston Villa 4-4-2
Liverpool 4-3-3/4-5-1
Bolton 4-4-2
Derby 4-4-2
Portsmouth 4-4-2
Lyon 4-3-3/4-5-1
Fulham 4-4-2
Newcastle 4-4-2
Lyon 4-3-3/4-5-1
Arsenal 4-3-3/4-5-1

Man City 4-4-2
Tottenham 4-4-2
Portsmouth 4-4-2
Tottenham 4-4-2
Reading 4-4-2
Newcastle 4-4-2

It's a matter of opinion. I wouldn't swap Scholes for Gerrard, I'd have Gerrard at United but he wouldn't be ahead of Scholes. The only thing that Gerrard has on Scholes is age.

Anderson hasn't left him on the bench for a lot of this season, Scholes was injured Rolling Eyes Anderson only plays if Scholes is rested or we're playing 3 in midfield.

That's absolute [beep!] and you know it. How about tackling? Gerrard must be about 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x better at tackling than Scholes. The same can be said about heading. He's faster, stronger, has more stamina, better finishing, scores more, better long range shooting, better at set pieces, and better at running.

Only has age over Scholes my arse!

Good result for Liverpool, we were lucky to draw 1-1.

Absolute nonsense. Gerrard may JUST creep into the United squad as a fringe player. The facts speak for themselves, Liverpool and Gerrard in particular have been OWNED by the United midfield in recent matches between the sides.

As for harry Kewell. No comment except LOL.

well that was a dissapointing result .. we should have won that quite comfortably ....2-1 or 3-1 . The incident involving Hlebb and Kuyt was in my opinion a clear penalty . This opionion is backed up by replays showing the faces of a few Liverpool players looking anxious towards the referee ....ie as if he is going to give a penalty ....etc I dont think Hlebb was `looking for it` he had just burst through into the penalty box and only a small tug would be needed to put him off ...which is what Kuyt did . The fact the referee was only yards away is also baffling ...he had been ok up till then .

I think the shot by Fabregas that Bendtner blocked on the line was ruled out for offside anyway . We had a few other chances we should have done better with ....Van Persie , Eboue ....Walcott was unlucky with his effort that flew just wide .

Flamini could have cleard the ball better just before Liverpool`s equaliser , still Gerrard showed his class with a good run and cross for Kuyt to score ..

Van Persie .....damn , Wenger must be cursing his luck ....looks like he will be out for both the League match on saturday and the 2ng leg next tuesday ..

It is not all over though ....a 1-0 win at Anfield would see us through .. we have the ability ...Liverpool have the advantage but ....game still on ...

Mate i'll always back up Harry Kewell because I know what he can do and what he can't very well having watched him play for many many years. But to say he is better than Cristiano Ronaldo makes you and Kewell and everyone who has ever defended him to the end look bad, people might link us with that stupid comment you've made...so for his, yours and Socceroo/Harry Kewell fans in general sakes.

DO NOT BRING IT UP AGAIN

I heard that at around 40 mins, he came to the sidelines to complain about pain in his thigh. So he was taken off as a precautionary measure. There might not be any problems. On the contrary, there might be some problems and he might not play the next 2 matches against Liverpool. We have to wait for some more news sadly... Sad

Hopefully, there'll not be more problems and he can play the next match itself... Smile

Wenger confirmed it last night.

On Van Persie's injury...
"It's a muscular problem, we had to take him out for a precaution. We'll see how it goes. I don't think it's a recurrence but it was where he was injured before on his thigh. For a precaution we had to take him off."

Probably won't get a further update till Friday.

Not wanting to go overoboard because I thought last nights Ref may have slightly favoured Liverpool on a few decisions here and there, on the whole I thought he handled the game brilliantly and in a total opposite comparison to that [beep!] Bennet at Old Trafford two weeks ago he actually allowed players to get on with playing football and allowed the game to flow.

Sure he could have blew up on a few occasions against either side and with another ref we might well have seen more than one or two yellow cards given out. I thought Flamani for one was VERY lucky on more than 2 or 3 occasions to avoid getting a card.

Regarding the penalty, Ive seen them given for much less in the past and had he given it we couldnt have much of an argument and had it been the other way round with Liverpool calling for a pen I would also feel a justified claim but from seeing the replay you cant help feeling Helb was looking for it maybe a little too obviously and that is why the ref failed to give it, Kuyt didnt so much grab and pull him as much as Hleb's fall suggested so in my own (Admittedly biased) opinion it was a correct decision.

Its a sad state of affairs that we constantly call for refs to whiste for everyting deemed against our side, the odd insignificant hand ball here, a foul there. Sometimes its for the benifit of the game as a whole that the match flows.

I think David Fairclough summed it up perfectly here..... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_3379311,00.html

I for one would prefer to watch a match with that kind of refereeing performance letting the game flow than having a ref peep his whistle everytime a player gets within 2 yards of another.

What you are saying is - you prefer a ref who is biased in his decisions in favour of your team.

No Sanderos could have easily been booked for a bad tackle
Flamani on another day with another ref might not have lasted 90 minutes on that pitch with some of the challenges he was throwing in
Torres could have rightfully been booked for diving
Eboue could have been rightfully booked for diving
Carragher and Torres could have been pulled up for meaningless handballs

The game itself did not suffer for a lack of punishment on any of these desicions.

hleb could have won a pen
Hleb could have conceivably at the same time been booked for simulation

None of this happened and the game flowed therefore, for the nuetral viewer it was a better game to watch.

Some refs would have give a pen, some wouldnt I can see both points of view but you cant tell me that a man of Hlebs strong build cant stand up to a "challenge" like that from Kuyt and carry on with the ball and square it to an opponent and possibly score?

Thats the biggest crime to me, the fact that a grown man falls to the floor when he clearly has the chance to advance with the ball to create a goal scoring opportunity.

It used to be a mans game and I find it refereshing to see a ref not being over sensitive.

Liverpool has been on fire lately.. apart from their match against us in epl.. it's really hard to see they're not going to secure this chance and give it away.. Razz
