Me too i've found them impressive when they played against Lyon. I don't find they have very good players but the organisation of this team by Sir Alex is a must, for example when Benzema scored he had 3 players on him. In attack all is known by the players of MU, there are tactics and we can see that the players have worked on it a lot, they could played the game with closed eyes. The defense of MU is a wall, they made little faults on every defending action but the referees don't see them because he could whistle it on every action. Very professional. Cool

I think MU can win it, but there is still good teams in it too.

You're talking about Lyon there, right?

I don't say that they are bad, i find the players good but there is only C. Ronaldo that i find very good. I think (but i can be wrong because you see more matchs of them than me Wink ) that the first quality of Manchester is the organisation of this team, the tactics are well known and worked a lot, a good physical form and when they counter attack Rooney and C. Ronaldo give many solutions and the adversary defense have not the time to form a group. For me, Manchester is a Team and a hard working team more than an association of good players.

I'm glad you're in the extreme minority otherwise I'd be extremely frustrated... Wink

Considering that at the moment Manchester United could be considered the best team in Europe...

I agree with that.

For example on the last past years Chelsea for me is more an association of good players (football stars) than a team.

Have the current crop of Liverpool players got more experience in Europe than the current crop of Man U players? I don't think so!

Obviously, no current Man U player has played in TWO European Cup finals (unless you also include the UEFA cup) but that doesn't mean they are less experienced in playing in Europe than the current Liverpool squad.

Do you have anyone in the Liverpool squad that can match this current Man U players experience.

Not a very good game at all.

just because we won by 2-0? Very Happy

I don't know if any one here noticed but Ronaldo got more and more frustrated as the game went on with not being able to have his usual success.

i believe every team players would be feeling the same way if they can't score Razz

Of course the main media focus will be on how Cristiano Ronaldo scores again which if you haven't watched the game sounds like he had a fantastic game.

Excellent result for Manchester United.

Fortunately for them they were playing a team from the dire, second-rate Serie A.

The whole point was IN Europe. Given that the context was specifically the EUROPEAN CUP we have the following players who have played in 1 final who are still in our squad.

Reina
Agger
Hyypia
Riise
Pennant
Mascherano
Kuyt
Crouch

The following have played in two:

Finnan
Gerrard
Carragher
Alonso

Oh and Benitez obviously managed both as well.

So as I correctly said before, there is no team left in Europe that has as much experience in their squad as Liverpool do in this competition

I believe that NONE of the players you mention above are good enough to get into the current Man U side. Torres is the only player that Liverpool have that just might get a game playing for Man U.

Don't agree. They may have played in more cup finals between them, however if you added up european caps per squad - I think United players would have more European caps between them than Liverpool players.

It makes no difference either way though. Let's get back to discussing the match itself.

Playing Rhyl in the qualifiers hardly matters when you get to the big games. It's the experience in the pressure situations that matters.

As for Steven Gerrard not getting in the United side, I would bet Ferguson disagrees.

SAF may well disagree with me over Gerrard, but for me he is just far too inconsistent to warrant a place in the current United side. There are some very talented players he would be trying to displace, he may just get a game as a squad member in order to rest the key players.

Unbelievable. You are now arguing with the most succesful manager you have ever had, the man who has you top of the league and still in europe.

Ferguson was desperate to sign Gerrard and said he would have replaced Keane with him over ANYONE in the world. He's just a squad player though really.....

I'm not arguing with SAF or you, I'm just expressing my opinion, and SAF may well have wanted Gerrard to replace Keane at one point in time, but at this particular moment, Gerrard simply isn't good enough to get in the current side. All in my very humble opinion, of course.

"To me, Gerrard is Keane. He is where Keane was when Roy came to us in 1993. Everywhere the ball is, he is there."

"He's got that unbelievable engine, desire, determination. Anyone would take Gerrard," he said.

Ferguson hardly ever praises anyone that doesn't play for United, that is how you know how much he wants Benzema.

Gerrard would walk into United's first 11 and you are deluding yourself if you think otherwise.

Regarding the qualifying rounds, I am sure it was Liverpool playing those Welsh Giants TNS in the qualifying rounds a couple of years ago - not the other way around.

United have been the most consistant English team qualifying for Champions League over the last 10 years. They have players who have not only won the cup, but also won huge amounts of caps purely by playing year in year out for United.

Scholes just got his 99th European cap - no Liverpool players has done that.
Then you have players such as Neville and Giggs who has also won loads of European caps. These 3 alone have probably won more caps between them than a majority of the Liverpool team.

Giggs - 114 caps
Scholes - 99 caps
Neville - 100+ caps

Where was he in the recent Man U v Liverpool game? He went missing yet again! Where was his engine, desire and determination then? Even SAF can be wrong sometimes. He has made plenty of poor signings over the years to show that he is not infallible.

I know who we played, I picked Rhyl because I was overexaggerating, if you would prefer I could pick Maccabi Haifa, we've both played them. Better?

Yes United have been the most consistent team QUALIFYING but they haven't been the most consistent in Europe as the co-efficients clearly states. We have more players in our team that are WINNERS of the EUROPEAN CUP.

Scholes has 99? Carragher has 101 European caps after tonight and 2 European Cup finals and a UEFA Cup final as well as a world club cup final and 2 European Super Cup appearances.

Giggs and Neville are at best bit part players this Season and as I say their experience though impressive doesn't make up for our experience as a team.

Roma vs Man United
