Championship leaders Sheffield United failed to win at Bramall Lane for the first time this season as they were held to a draw by in-form Cardiff City.

However, the Blades have retained their three-point advantage at the top of the table after Reading could only pick up a point at home to Leeds.

Neil Warnock's side had won all seven previous home league games this season but they could not find a way through against Cardiff, who have lost only once in 11 league matches.

Reading took the lead through Brynjar Gunnarsson at the Madejski Stadium but David Healy equalised 15 minutes from time to earn Leeds a share of the spoils.

Reading, who are now unbeaten in 18 matches in all competitions, remain in second place and they are a further point clear of Luton, who were beaten at Coventry.

Dele Adebola scored the only goal of the game for the Sky Blues to lift them out of the relegation places.

Crystal Palace were denied a third consecutive away win by Michael Higdon's last minute equaliser for Crewe at Gresty Road.

Crewe took the lead through Steve Jones, but second half goals for Dougie Freedman and Clinton Morrison put Iain Dowie's men ahead and seemingly on course for three points.

Theo Walcott was on the scoresheet again as Southampton beat Stoke 2-0 at St Mary's, grabbing his third goal in three starts for the Saints.

Djamel Belmadi scored a late second for Harry Redknapp's side, who move up two places to seventh as a result.

Watford scored three goals in the space of 10 second half minutes to beat Wolves at Vicarage Road.

Jay Demerit, Marlon King and Paul Devlin were on target for Adrian Boothroyd's side, before Seol Ki-Hyeon scored a late consolation for the visitors.

Brighton failed to celebrate the news of their new stadium with a victory, despite taking the lead through Dean Hammond against Ipswich. Sam Parkin levelled for Joe Royle's men.

Preston drew a blank again at Deepdale as they were held to a goalless draw by Leicester, while Chris Brunt scored the only goal as Sheffield Wednesday picked up a precious victory at Norwich.

Finally, 10-man QPR were winners over Derby at Pride Park thanks to goals from Gareth Ainsworth and Kevin Gallen.

Paul Furlong was sent off shortly after Ainsworth's headed goal on 30 minutes, but Rangers held firm and Gallen added a late second. Dexter Blackstock, on loan from Southampton, pulled a goal back for Derby late on.

We can definetly make the Play-offs but going up, that will be hard. But we could do it, with some stregnthening in January.

But we are on a great run with a terrific manager.
