End of of season La Liga awards 2011/12

Postby Hams » Thu May 17, 2012 6:12 pm

These are my end of season La Liga awards.

Team of the season

Real Madrid - They won the title for the first time since 2008 scoring a record 121 goals and earning 100 points.

Manager of the season

Jose Mourinho - Has now won titles in 4 major countries(Portugal,England,Italy and Spain)and is still the special one.

Player of the season

Lionel Messi - The Argentine scored an incredible 50 goals in La Liga to win the pichichi and a record which will never be broken

Signing of the season

Radamel Falcao - He may have cost Atletico Madrid 40 million Euros but he did score 24 in the league and also helped Los Indios to win the Europa League again.

Surprise team of the season

Levante - Many pundits predicted they would be relegated but the frogs finished in 6th place and qualified for Europe.

( A special mention must also go to Mirandes of the 3rd tier who delighted everyone by reaching the Copa del rey semi finals)

Disappointment of the season

Valencia - I know they finished in 3rd place but it was a massive 39 points behind Real Madrid and some of the football Unai Emery's side played was awful.

Biggest flops of the season

Villarreal - Its incredible that the yellow submarine started this campaign in the CL but finished it being relegated from the top flight.

Best match this season

Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid - When Cristiano Ronaldo put Los Blancos 2-1 ahead at the Nou Camp to silence the 95,000 fans in the stadium!

Do you agree with my awards? If not what would your choices be?

Agree with most of that...although the best match obviously not that one :P

And disappointments, a few teams like Sevilla and Bilbao especially, Bilbao were so rated bu tin the end well beaten by Levante and only finished 10th....

All of it apart from the game funnily enough! :D
I think the Bilbao v Barca game was a good one, absolutely terrible conditions and Bilbaos attacking made it quite exciting.

I also really enjoyed that Bilbao v Barcelona fixture but would only rate it as the 2nd best this season!

Real was the best team in Spain by far. Nobody even close to them.
