Who will finish as top scorer this season? - 2012/13

Postby Hams » Mon Aug 13, 2012 1:54 am

RVP of Arsenal finished as top scorer last season with 30 PL goals.

Who will finish as top scorer in the Premier League this season? - 2012/13.

If RVP doesn't repeat the success again he had in the last campaign who will it be this time?

Wayne Rooney is sure to be up there again along with Sergio Aguero and his fellow City team mate Carlos Tevez.

Could Fernando Torres of Chelsea re discover his goal scoring touch and Luis Suarez put last seasons troubles behind him?

Clearly it's Jordan Henderson's time to shine. Why is this even a question?

Wayne Rooney has stormed into the lead on the poll.

He might have to share the goals now though with his new strike partner RVP!

Any more thoughts on who you think will finish as top scorer this season?

D. Ba Newcastle United 6
S. Fletcher Sunderland 5
Michu Swansea City 5
L. Suárez Liverpool 5
R. van Persie Manchester United 5
P. Crouch Stoke City 4
J. Defoe Tottenham Hotspur 4
N. Jelavić Everton 4 0
R. Lambert Southampton 4
Fernando Torres Chelsea 4

Despite Peter Crouch scoring 4 times for Stoke it wasn't enough to earn a recall to the England team.

Demba Ba is currently in the lead with 6 goals closely followed by Steven Fletcher who has just won player of the month for September.

Any more votes or comments on who will finish as this seasons top scorer?

RVP/Rooney/Aguero/Torres/Tevez

Out of above 5, I think RVP and Aguero have a best chances of getting the golden boot.

The reason I excluded Rooney is, his role has been revised but not changed. He is now playing behind striker finding the gaps and making a move rather than taking shot by himself.

Torres might fancy a chance reaching close to it but I reckon he will miss by very thin margin.

I would be more than happy to see if any surprise package comes from nowhere and brags the Golden Boot! :)

Pos. Player Goals Team
1 Robin van Persie 8 Manchester United
2 Demba Ba 7 Newcastle United
2 Luis Suarez 7 Liverpool
4 Michu 6 Swansea City
5 Jermain Defoe 5 Tottenham Hotspur
5 Steven Fletcher 5 Sunderland
5 Marouane Fellaini 5 Everton
5 Edin Dzeko 5 Manchester City

Any more votes or comments on who you think will be top scorer this season?

RVP is in the lead now with 8 goals closely followed by Newcastle's Demba Ba.

At this moment in time Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres are no where to be seen on the leaders list!

Luis Suarez has done very well for Liverpool but can he keep this form up for an entire season?

R. van Persie Manchester United 10
J. Defoe Tottenham Hotspur 9
D. Ba Newcastle United 8
M. Fellaini Everton 8

Well done to Spanish striker Michu who is now top scorer alongside Suarez and RVP.

Swansea only paid £2 million for him and have picked up a real bargain which goes to show you don't always have to spend fortunes on strikers.

Gareth Bale has moved up to 6th in the scorers chart after hitting a hat trick against Aston Villa.

Does it still look like Van Persie is going to finish as top scorer again this season or is surprise contender Michu still in with a chance?

What has happened to Man City's forwards as not one of them are in the top 5?

RVP has taken over as top scorer now and is on course to be the nations top marksman for a 2nd year in a row.

With Sturridge in the side, the goals are shared between Suarez and Sturridge so i think Van Persie will just pip it this season.

Michu has come back into contention in the last couple of weeks.

Its a concern that there are no English strikers in the race to finish as top scorer.

The best English forward out there at the moment is Southampton's Rickie Lambert on 11 goals!

Who will finish as PL top scorer?
