The pick of this weekends fixtures though is the local derby between Real and Atletico Madrid. The last time Los Indios won a league game against Los Blancos was back in 1999 and its about time this record ended! Atletico are in great form at the moment and will never have a better chance to win against their neighbours, Any comments or predictions? |

Gutted im going to miss this one.
Falcao will play his first game at the Bernebeu for Atleti. Really difficult to call this one, Atleti are long overdue a win against Real but Real cant afford another slip up if they want to retain their title. |

It was an excellent night to be a Barcelona fan as they set a new record in Spain
for the number of points won at this stage of the season and also moved 6 points clear at the top of the table. Lionel Messi scored another 2 goals and is even closer now to breaking German striker Gerd Mueller's calender year total. Atletico lost the Madrid derby despite having been in front of Real for the first time in 14 years going into this match. Ronaldo scored the opening goal from a cracking free kick and Ozil got the 2nd but there were few chances and many fouls. Valencia have sacked their manager Mauricio Pellegrino after they were thrashed 5-2 at home by Real Sociedad. |

Didnt see the games but its a shame for Atleti, great result for barca on the other hand. Saw a stat for the Madrid derby last night claiming only 64% of Atletis passes found their target. Did they freeze last night or did Madrid press well?
As for Barca, great win again. Tito is quickly erasing the fears we had when Pep left and with Pique and Puyol back and Messi in this form who knows where we will be in May. Abidal has also resumed normal training at the club so hopefully he will be back next year, another CB to ease the woes. Iniesta made his 500th appearance for Barca, great achievement from a wonderful player and Messi is on the verge of another record. If he plays and scores against Benfica he will also set a new record for international goals in a calender year. The guy is ridiculous. |

I was only able to watch the 1st half of the Madrid derby Bren as I had to go
to work but Atletico did seem to freeze and were more interested in trying to foul Real's players! There was once incident when Ramos elbowed Falcao in the face who completely over reacted and went down as if he had been punched by Vitali klitchko! |

Well I guess the positive is that its more of a mental issue which is sorted easier than a talent one. Im sure both Barca and Madrid will struggle away to Atleti this season. |
